Think of it this way.
Do you remember why EA Sports had to discontinue the NCAA football franchise in the first place?
Image and likeness use without compensation.
Do you remember what allowed them to finally release it again this year?
Compensating the players for the use of their images and likenesses.

Jealous because he made a collage and put it on some shirts? No. There’s nothing terribly creative or innovative about the concept.
Assuming the story in the op is legit, I applaud the kid’s effort.
But it’s still copyright infringement and will get shut down with the quickness.
