not the highest paid head coach, highest paid OC, highest paid DC, highest paid QB.
the new NCAA there is no “this takes time to gel” those days are over. With the portal you are changing like 30% of the roster every year. Most of the players now are just one year rentals. Look at Indiana, teams turn around overnight now.
It’s not calling for him to be fired if we don’t win (if we don’t make the playoffs for some reason the seat gets warm), but I believe we’ll be odds on favorite.
LSU isn’t spending all this cash for moral victories or development for the future. This is a win now spend

This upcoming season is now championship or failure with everything brought in.
Expecting big things. I wouldn’t be surprised if LSU opens as #1 and favorite to win the title

Amazing hire.
Wow Giants must feel like they win the lottery getting a great established coach to be there for Dart’s whole career

I think you’re more than just a “talented recruit” when you put up 800 yards and 10 touchdowns in one college season for a major program like Oklahoma.
He may have declined a bit from injury, don’t know, but I think we’re kidding ourselves to think he wasn’t hindered from our putrid offense and garbage QB play.
Guy was the #9 overall player in the portal last year, one of the top WRs. Super fast and 6’4”.
If not slowed by injury he would have been great to keep around. I was hoping he did

re: Nic Anderson...Wanted to get thoughts on him going to the portal.

I would have liked to keep him. I think he could have had big numbers in a Kiffin offense. He had incredible numbers at OU.
The writing was on the wall though with all the WRs we’ve signed, plus Lane will be spreading the ball around to all of them without a dominant guy.
He’s a talented WR that could have done more in a better offense, would have liked to see it work out at LSU but inevitable it wouldn’t be.

This was my theory as well I’ve said on here.
I think we will see a shift that more highschool recruits go to “smaller” (not playoff caliber) schools.
they will get more money by committing to smaller schools to play right away. then earn big money “free agency” contracts in that portal after that one year at the smaller schools.
the playoff caliber programs don’t want highschoolers anyway, they want proven players via the transfer portal.
i think it will start a big shift

You can laugh all you want. But bookmark this thread and go read The Rant December 2026 if we miss the playoffs.
This is LSU. It’s titles or nothing.
You paid for the most expensive coach. You paid for the most expensive offensive coordinator. You paid for the most expensive defensive coordinator. You paid for the most expensive QB.
You better fricking make the playoffs

With all the money afforded to Lane and the football program, there is no way he is afforded a “rebuilding year”.
The idea of a rebuilding year died with the rise of NIL. plenty of teams are rebuilding and competing right away.
Lane knows if he doesnt make the playoffs year one that seat will start to get warm

Why are we offering college kids $6m/year to play football
re: Tennessee stuff is Leavitt’s brother trying to get more cash
Posted by Zzyzx on 1/12/26 at 3:46 pm to Allthatfades
whats his brother doing? is he the agent?
this is how i feel too.
if he is that close between LSU and Tennessee, let him go to Tennessee.
We’ll be ranked ahead of Tennessee and more nationally relevant than them with or without Leavitt

agree. even women commentators and I turn the game off.
I have zero time for a woman’s thoughts about mens sports.
let alone coaching or reffing.

someone else said it the other day, and I can’t unsee it now…
but if you’re a half black WR in the transfer portal Lane Kiffin will find you

not the best in history but he’s easily the best coach in the country
he said so when he was hired. “I win everywhere. Google me”

Indiana beat Oregon earlier this year too…
That is why they are undefeated and Oregon is not…

Indiana was already a pretty big favorite.
They’ve been the best team in the country all year. Not even close
