ATL Tiger

I specifically said, I wasn't talking about recruiting. But I do disagree with the claim that he consistently put players in the right spot. He was brilliant at taking good RB's and making that great WR's. That really should be his legacy.

But at QB, RB, LB and even sometimes on the defensive line, he struggled to find a good combo. He rarely had 1000 rushers, and not because he was intentionally platooning them. His LB core was never strong. And he rarely had the QB position settled, even by November.

New DC's would be lining up at the door knowing that they might be fired after one game.

To be fair our D has been less than stellar in several games this year (Auburn, Miss St & Fla), we won 2 of these but not because the D shut down the opposing offense so much as we out scored them with our offense.

Miss St and AU played a 3-2 game and then they both put up 20+ on our supposedly great D? We all know the talent is there so

I agree that Miles needs to hire a new D.C. But, if some of you people are anything more than joking about West Monroe's Def Coord...let me enlighten you. LSU tried that approach in the dark decade and hired Lynn Amedee (sp?) from Northside High School. Talk about the worst decision.

If Miles hires a new D.C., it needs to be with the same methodology he acquired Crowton. He needs to do some research and put some thought into getting the best man for the job, and not from some high school.

Paul is right on here, the whole high school coordinator has not worked well for Ark or Auburn (just 2 recent ones).......

Eric Alexander from S to OLB
Webster from WR to CB
Hunt from WR to S
Peterman from DE to OG
Devery from RB to WR
Daniels from S to CB

Not saying shifting guys around during their careers isn't something that happens in CFB, but he did move some guys around to find the right combos, the 03 D is prob the best example of that.

Toe had like 900+ in 01, DD had 900 in 02, JV had 1000 in 03, Alley almost 900 in 04. So only 1 1000 yd guy, but generally a good RB, and there were intentional platoons most years. 04 we did get burned by not going away from JV early enough though.

Booty in 00, Ro in 01, Mauck in 02 and 03 had pretty firm grasps on the QB role. Yeah Mauck got injured in 02, but he seemed to be proving himself when he went down.

His LB core was never strong.

Core or corps?

Its real simple. Tyson jackson is playing subpar because he is just too slow and gets tired to quickly. Rahim Alem should should play a lot more, because he is the only d-lineman that can get to the Qb when he is in the game & he creates a lot of energy. All our LB are too slow with exception to P. riley and R.baker. Curtis taylor does not play safety well. Danny mccray should be playing LB not nickelback. the DT are just getting pushed around.Real simple whe need some pass rushers and faster linebackers. Do you Know how Ole miss beat FL? because tebow sucks when he is under pressure!

My only comment would be that I agree that he needs a DC. A program like LSU is to big not to have one guy in charge of the defense and calling the shots. He can go after a top notch guy with what LSU has done for the last 10 years and he needs to get one why y'all are hot.

Nothing will be done about the CDC's until after the season. I predict a single coordinator (and not one of the present CDC's) in place by spring.

I agree, but am still concerned about Miles' sense of loyalty. It might prevent him from making this move even though it is obviously needed.

If Miles doesn't act and goes with loyalty, somebody needs to tap him on the shoulder and tell him the story of one Gerry Dinardo.

the biggest thing that worries me with our defense is our lack of ability to force turnovers...i think thats in diect relation with our lack of aggresiveness
