While I agree with this, he doesn't know that. Wasn't he born in Indiana or some facility?
He knows what he's instinctively born with but he doesn't know how big tigers territories are.
Which goes back to what is said in my last post, his house is that habitat. He looks very relaxed and at ease whenever I see him in it.
I understand where you're going with the "I don't want to go to the dentist" and so forth. He has all of that taken care of by the veterinary part of the university. He doesn't know dollars and cents or raising young and so on.
Leave him be.

Ah yes another classic shitty LSULyle thread. Why would we move him? He has the greatest habitat of any tiger around plus around the clock healthcare. He is going nowhere. Plus all he's ever known is his house. Why move him when he starts to get sick? You don't think a new place would only make it worse for him?

Dumbest thing I've ever heard. Congrats have a downvote

Lol zoos are like the equivalent of projects. frick you dumbass

He's in the best possible place for a sick tiger.
As for the trailer thing - obviously they shouldn't try anymore with this one because of his illness but there's no reason not to with a healthy one.

What do you suggest they do?
Mike was born in captivity. The place LSU got him from shut down. He's actually probably lucky he ended up at LSU and not somewhere else.
The only zoos he may have more room at would be the giant ones that have safaris like in San Diego. But they prob aren't just taking mixed tiger cubs for the hell of it.

So what do you do with a tiger with cancer?

OP has fun posting unpopular ideas. There's no way that one person sincerely believes all of those posts. Good for board discussion and all, but you aren't arguing with a real opinion.

You get him a female and let him live out the rest of his life happy and horny. And breed another Mike from them.

I don't get how some people can understand this: He's a tiger. A tiger. He can do whatever he wants to do. If he doesn't want to get in the travel cage, then he won't get in it.
This is just plain stupid, birdman. We're humans. We've been making big strong animals do whatever we want for thousands of years. We make elephants dance, horses pull loads, and lions beg.

The animals left alive at the Baker zoo need to be rescued.
I got to be downvote #119 :-)

I will admit that my comment above about "retiring" Mike was going overboard, but what is the point of having a mascot if he's not going to the games? If it's too cruel to take him into the stadium, it's too cruel to have him in a habitat on campus. My problem isn't with the tiger, it's with whoever on the vet staff decided to quit loading him up. Their story is BS and no intelligent person buys it.
Aren't you at LSU to get an education? Unless you're getting a degree in the life and habits of a certain Tiger, wdygaf?
Get a life. No intelligent person gets so butt hurt over the Tiger not riding around the stadium in a cage 4 of 5 time before a game.

.
Apparently you are unaware that in the wild tigers are solitary animals. Enjoy your down vote.

You guys are the biggest hypocrites. Mike is only on campus for the public's viewing pleasure. If you find it cruel to parade him around the football field before a game, then you should find it cruel to keep him enclosed in his habitat. Being forced to sit in a travel cage is no different than being forced to live in captivity. Why aren't you asking to have him released into the jungles of SE Asia? That's where tigers truly belong.
My opinion is consistent, I have no problem with him in a habitat, or circling the football field 6 times a year.

I don't think we want this Tigers genes
Posted on 5/24/16 at 7:05 am to Choupique19
Because if he was released in SE Asia he would die. He was born in captivity and has never had to hunt for food. Tigers are an isolated animal even out in the wild so living alone is not a problem either. His habitat is better than most places he could live since he can't live in the wild. There are more Tigers in zoos than there are out in the wild. In the wild he not only has to hunt for his food but there are poachers who kill Tigers for money. I don't think most people think it is cruel to put him in the cage to go to the stadium. I think they just don't care. If he doesn't want to go then he doesn't have to go move on. LSU is not winning or losing a game because a tiger is in the stadium and any fan that blames him not being there is the reason the atmosphere isn't the same are ridiculous. Fans are responsible for the atmosphere in the game and no one else.

My dog lives for getting loaded up in the car.

Honest question, are you being facetious? Do you load up your dog in the car? Does he like it or dislike it? If he dislikes it, why do you force him into the car?
