Don't give me that bullshite. I've seen your posts defending why LSU is not the SEC favorite. Until we start winning football games, we are ok where we are at. I give a shite about being number 1 in the end...not in the beginning. Y'all can cream all you want about being on top in the preseason. Maybe we can get an award for that.

I'm not "defending" it. It's just not hard to see how AU could pull off winning the West. Don't spin.

Well, what if we go undefeated and so do 2 other teams go undefeated as well and we get left out of the BCS title game? Kind hard to end up #1 then, right?

Of course

I don't think anyone is doing that.

Obviously he didn't watch the LSU vs Florida game a couple of years back. Fumbles at the goal line, fumble in the end zone, interceptions, and Landry with his usual quota of late hits, face mask, and hit out of bounds penalties. It was a team loss not a quarterback loss.

And then there is the Auburn game where the striped shirts made the difference.

That's not defending it? Don't see how I'm spinning anything.

And, if anything keeps us out of the title game, it will be N. Texas, Troy, App St., and Tulane. Otherwise, if we beat 3 top 10 teams and go undefeated, the BCS will have us in the title.

Oh, and don't call me a bitch...that's internet bullying.

because all of those schools you mentioned are bringing back big time, established QB's and we're throwing out a RS Freshman, TRUE Freshman and a transfer from Harvard.

+ Schedule....

Not necessarily. I wouldn't call it that, if that's what you're implying.

Maybe, maybe not.

The bottomline is it's always better to start out on top. If we get our blocked knocked off a few times, then so be it. We could still get our block knocked off if we start at #12.

The first episode of college football live didn't include the LSU tigers. Not until day 4 or 5 did they address the team. We just can't seem to get any respect. Guess we'll have to keep winning championships until they have no choice.

There is nothing reasonable about thinking that Auburn has more than a 50% chance to beat LSU this year, and if you believe otherwise, you're a ridiculously superstitious mo-fo

read my quote that you used again. i did not say that i expected the wore chickuns to beat us head to head, or that i expected them to beat us for the west.

i merely said that it was not unreasonable for a person to do so.

auburn's SEC road slate is much easier than ours. having tenn and vandy as the other two SEC East opponents is much easier than UF-USC (we both play UGa). in the head to head matchup, we have to play at their place, which is an advantage regardless of them having their refs or not. In 2004 and 2006 we had the better team and lost.

again, i restate, it would not be unreasonable for SOMEONE to pick auburn to win the sec west.

quote:

And LSU's schedule is not really all that difficult. Our 3 toughest games might all be against teams from the SEC East.

Not really all that difficult? We play the two best teams from the east in UGa and Florida. We play four of our six tougest SEC games on the road, including the most important Western Division matchup.

We could very well beat Auburn and still see them win the west.

quote:

But if you pick any other team besides LSU or UF, you need to have your head examined. That doesn't mean it can't happen, but it's still a horrible pick.

So someone who watched the UF/Michigan game last year, thinks that Florida might be overrated and picked UGA to win the east would need his head examined?

I could see how someone could reasonable pick UGa to win the East just thinking that they are a BETTER TEAM that florida. heck, I don't have the schedules in front of me but I'd say that picking UGa to win the east would be using the exact same arguement that a reasonable person would make for LSU...they are just the best team.

My head probably does need to be examined, but that is really not germain (nor tito) to the topic. the fact is, that whether it turns out to be right or wrong, a VALID arguement can be made for picking the "fAUx" tigers to win the west.

and to the buckeye fan:

quote:

And your choices at starter are a RS freshman, a transfer from Harvard's JV squad, and a true frosh.

you know, its funny that the media has picked up on the 'harvard's JV squad' line. sort of like 'saban's recruits' all over again, eh?

the guy was a freshman player on the team at a school that happened to field a JV squad as well.

from a leadership standpoint, while his on-field time is limited the fact that he is 3-4 years out of HS and was able to get in to the nichols state of the north are factors that one would think would help in the leadership/maturity area.

one thing i have always wondered, is he any relation to oren hatch?

"14 points isnt beating the hell out of somebody. 3 or more touchdowns is.

also ohio state is returning 18/19 of its 22 starters from last year.

you are biased yourself"

did you actually watch the game? OSUs last touchdown was like a lakers layup down by 21 with 2 secs left on the clock

bottom line: take care of our own buisness, and the rest will work itself out. Who cares how we are ranked in July? i am rather glad that the pressure is on AU this season.

I think that's a key. Ohio State was considered a "next year" team in 2007. I don't know why the Buckeyes got whacked as bad as they did vs. Florida then lost to LSU as they did last season but it's not because that program doesn't get a lot of talent.

LSU has had 29 players drafted over the past five drafts; 8 in the first round. Florida's had 22 taken; 3 in the first round, USC has had 35 taken, 9 in the first round.

Ohio State has had 37 players taken overall and 11 taken in the first round during the past five NFL drafts. And that's after having an "off" year last Spring with only 3 taken (young team).

I think they're probably going to have a bunch taken next year. Maybe even 10 or more if some Juniors come out.

I also think the nature of last year's BCS championship game was more a matter of the old adage about the team that makes fewer mistakes winning the game along with a great job by LSU's offensive coordinator in confusing Ohio State's defense than a matter of LSU being dramatically superior physically.

Whatever Ohio State has lacked...and being in the BCS championship game three times isn't exactly the worst a program can do...it hasn't been talent. And they're not going to lack talent next season.

Course they also have to go play at USC and that's a pretty tough assignment.

Why is it when Miles wins a NC, it was Saban's players but when that fig from florida won it, I NEVER hear it was Zook's players???? I just don't get it.

You forgot to mention that Les is not afraid to make decisions that a HC needs to be making i.e. 4th down calls etc.
