Oregon State replaced Virginia Tech, which asked to postpone its visit to Baton Rouge until the 2007 season.
That didn't really work out so well for them afterall...
lol - no, not at all. Considering the replacement game VT 'postponed' us for tore em a new one too.

That is where the Jedi mind tricks come from (someone on the inside). They use the dark side of the force. If you think about it, Skip's dome slightly resembles the Death Star.

Houston asked LSU to let them out with no cash penalty. Since it was only six months before the season, LSU agreed only if they could find an equal quality opponent....and we got Ark St. Not very equal but still a sell out so Skip was fine with that.

Houston is not exactly what I would call top notch talent. You act like LSU dipped down to a SWAC school or something. We would have sold the same amount of tickets whether we would have played Houston or ASU.

and until tiger stadium is NOT 90% or more full and the cash registers aren't ringing for the UL-Monroes of the world, don't expect this to change .. although, had we not played virginia tech in 2007 we would have NEVER gotten into the NC game ... it is either going to take a dip in season ticket sales in a year heading into a weak non-conference schedule .. 64,000 fans showing up for a louisiana tech-LSU game .. or a weak non-conference schedule that CLEARLY either costs LSU a shot at the BCSNC or a BCS game before anything will happen .. not to mention, i don't know about verge ausberry either .. the dude damn near had us stuck with only SIX fricking home games this upcoming season if we weren't able to switch tulane to a home game ..

xiv- Goes a long way? Sure, Houston is much more important than the fans of LSU who pay the salaries of Skip and others. I can't wait for Houston to return the favor.
trstiger- No Houston is not top notch talent at all. But the only difference in ASU and a SWAC school is Divison 1 rather than 1-AA or whatever the hell they call it now. Talent level is the same. As far as selling the same number of tickets, you're exactly right. That's why Skip didn't care. I had much rather see us play Houston, Iowa St., Stanford, Baylor etc. At least they are mid level teams that peek some sort of interest.
