No college football game ever needs to be neutral site unless it's a bowl or playoff game.

Georgia Dome? Really? Why??

I love the responses in this thread. Although I agree neutral site games suck and take away the pageantry that is college football, the contrast to the responses about the upcoming tcu/lsu game in jerry world is amusing.

i agree, but you know how miney drives everything and if they could put the game in a bigger stadium and draw up even more attention for tv, dont you think they would move it. Look at the Red River rivarly
Dumbass, Alabama's stadium seats 100,000 and ours is about to seat 100,000. Where do you think you are going to find a bigger stadium than that? Knoxville? Ann Arbor? Those would be great places to hold the game.
Idiotic post.
I was thinking the same thing, but was trying to refrain...
Jerry World seats 80K, expandable to 100K for big events...

Oregon last year was badass (I was there)...TCU will be the same (I will be there), although TCU will be a deflated program for the rest of the season, unlike Oregon.
Dallas and Jerry World is an awesome combo for a season opener as opposed to some BS 3rd tier starter.

Nobody wants to play Alabama in fricking Dallas.

So to summarize the repsonses, it is okay to play a neutral site game against TCU, but not okay against Alabama.
And to clarify some of those that like to berate, i am not for the neutral site games but was asking a question to see what everyone else thought.

This game is meaningless once the playoffs start.

LSU and Bama should build a huge stadium in MS and only use it for our game. It will be the landmass bowl, Mississippi State Champs.
Yeah I know, it's a No

A few years back, Tennessee and Va Tech had tossed around the idea of playing a game by setting up a football field in the infield of the 165,000 seat Bristol Motor Speedway.

Probably fill in the gap with bleachers and push it way over 200k seats
Posted on 11/6/12 at 11:43 am to tjtiger9
Right now the LSU - Bama game is one of the best games of the season every year. As long as both teams continue to be strong and are in each others' way for winning the west, then it's going to be a perennial marquee matchup. I'd be strongly against moving that matchup from two of the greatest venues in college football in favor of a neutral site (which probably wouldn't be very neutral anyway).

I meant based on the current scenario. This game wouldn't keep one of us out if we are both this strong.
If it means more on a particular year one or both teams are likely not as dominant that year. Then it becomes a less important game so why move it to a neutral site.
