According to Blake Ruffino, he is saying his contacts within the LSU Ops building
Not saying it is where he got his information from, but do you know who Detillier's contact at LSU is?

I never understood the folks saying it was Johnson’s to lose.
Other way around.
Other way around.

Brennan looks ready to me. The eyes don't lie and it's gonna be a fun year on both sides of the ball.

Brennan showed NFL flashes last year. Johnson didnt, thats my only point.
What do you expect? Max Johnson was a true freshmen who because of the Covid Pandemic barely had any reps to transition from high school ball to the SEC, which is a major jump for anyone, and then he was thrown into action before he was ready. Yet he performed admirably and far better than TJ Finley.
However, I bet today relative to last season, Max Johnson is astronomically far better. I mean, he is not going to remain stagnate. As most QB's transitioning to college football usually make their biggest jumps in proficiency in their second seasons.
Moreover, in the Spring Game, Daronte Jones was mixing up his coverage's and camouflaging what he was doing, and that caused TJ Finley to throw two interceptions and Garrett Nussmeier to throw three interceptions. However, Myles and Max didn't throw any, which is a good indication that they both understand what they are doing .

I've said all along that both will play.
I hope you are wrong. I hate dual QB systems. Or a system when a QB always has to watch his back or otherwise, be pulled for the other QB.

You know what they always say, that a player makes the most progress between his first and second years.
Starting SEC games as a true freshman certainly won't hurt Max

There’s a big decision coming very soon not between Myles and Max but between Max and Nussmeier. Myles is here for one more year good or bad but after that they will have to decide who is the next starter for the next 2 years after 202 until Walker Howard is ready to take over. The other will assuredly transfer as they are both power 5 starting quality quarterbacks.

Well, what Blake Ruffino is saying is maybe 2 weeks old at the longest. While Detillier has said the same exact thing since the season ended in 2020.

Other than early last season and in the Spring Game, when have you seen him?

And the bulk of that comes from Ole Miss, who was legendarily bad at defense
Missouri, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State (a combined 6-20 outside of their games vs. LSU) weren't exactly a "murderer's row" of competition either.
And Johnson did throw for 3 TDs, no INTs, rush for 52 yards, AND lead the offense to 50% on 3rd down AT Florida...in his first ever start....as a true freshman...in a game where three of his primary receivers/TE were also true freshmen.
Ultimately the OC is going to pick the starting QB and O will go along with his decision. But from O's perspective I think people are looking a bit too deep in the analysis. LSU was 2-0 under Johnson in games that ultimately saved O from a losing season and extinguished some of the heat he was feeling up to that point vs. Brennan who was 1-2, leading to a quick end to the 2019 honeymoon for O. The fact that the terrible defense was a MUCH larger issue than Brennan's play in those first 3 games doesn't really matter to O who is pretty simplistic and a "bottom line" guy. Recency bias for sure. But LSU won with Johnson. They didn't with Brennan. O looks out for O first and foremost. He knows winning keeps him employed. Losing doesn't. So he prefers the guy who has proven he can win...unless the OC tells him it is better to go with the other guy.
O is about as subtle as a sledgehammer and is sometimes more candid/honest than he probably should be. But I don't think his statement at the beginning of spring that "There is one quarterback that's 2-0 on campus here and that's him (Johnson)" was not just a flippant comment. It was a candid look at his thoughts about the position. Wins and losses are the bottom line and one produced them while the other didn't.

Jake Peetz
This is the key. What will Peetz's offense look like and what will he want to do.
If we were talking the same offense as last year, I'd say the most likely option is Brennan. With Peetz, we don't know what kind of offense exactly he will want to run.
Maybe he values a mobile QB more than a pocket passer. We have no clue.
I can't guess one way or the other until I know that.

Anything Mike D says is coming directly from O. Guarantee it has more clout than what anyone else is saying.

The workout pics that showed he added some muscle. Are you gonna parse every word I write about Brennan like a Nextdoor Karen or are you gonna let me show so freaking optimism in our QB? Jesus this board can be a bunch of drama queens sometimes hanging on every damn word a poster says.

I think Brennan will not be given a long leash but it’s laughable to me how many people just wrote him off and became infatuated with Johnson.
There is very little doubt that Brennan will be under center when the season starts.

so they were middling. Ok
