We didn't lose to Ole Miss because of an inexperienced quarterback. We lost because of outrageously stupid clock management and play calling on the last possession. Les Miles can't use Jefferson's inexperience as an excuse for that.

You're absolutely right. It was outrageiously stupid clock management. What you're missing is that in the game of football, the quarterback is as much in charge of clock management as the coaches. Both were at fault. With a Mauck, Flynn or even an RP on the field, LSU does not screw that game up at the end. That's where Chris is coming from about the "inexperienced" qb playing a roll in the loss.

1. Alabama - They are not going to change much of anything in what they do well: Run the football. They will be physical at the point of attack, control the line of scrimmage and have good special teams, especially the kickers.

Bama lost both of their kickers after 2009. their punter and place kicker are both freshman with little to no experience.

He lost me there...

LSU came in third place in a twelve-team conference - hence LSU was better than 9 other tough conference teams.

Why is our program at a point where we are "supposed to lose" to anybody? Why aren't we good enough that we are supposed to win? We've gone from a program that thinks it can and should contend for national championships to a program that accepts that it is "supposed to lose" when it faces a true contender. That's what Les Miles has brought us.

You're seriously gettin dumber by the day

He had an experienced starter from 2008 available and he simply chose not to use him, probably because he and his staff so completely failed to teach him

Ever heard the old adage "You can lead a horse to water....". Going with JJ in '09 was the right move.

quote:

Jefferson, who led the #112 offense in the country. After fricking his quarterback situation up so bad that he had to start over with Jefferson, rendering the 2008 "rebuilding" season a complete waste of time, he cannot then use his own frickup as an excuse.

How was going with JJ in '09 a frickup? Was JJ responsible for the #112 ranking? no

Its amazing how your hatred for Miles has blinded you so badly that you can no longer see anything positive. Its kinda sad actually.

Chris, you were on the Finebaum radio show a few minutes ago. You spoke for a couple of minutes and then they were going to take calls where people could comment and you could respond.

But.....you hung up and they can't get you on the phone. You just tucked tail and ran. Nice job.

Please do us a favor: If you're going to be a coward, just don't make it clear that you're an LSU fan. Either have the guts to take the calls or don't go on the show at all.

Please point to the bottom 4 least "tough". Hell, even UGA and AU were not tough last season. That was my point, the sarcasm missed the mark I suppose.

Let's not forget how Miles did the right thing and got rid of the pothead QB. A lot of coaches probably would have swept it under the rug to keep a more experienced, better QB in the lineup. We all knew the moment when we found out the doobie smoker was gone it was gonna hurt a long time. Let's not bash Miles for the subpar seasons with inexperienced QBs, because a large part of our struggles are a result of doing the right thing.

Miles signed the potsmoking QB. Maybe that's the reason Saban ignored him in the first place and pot-loving Austin was his original choice.Miles made that bed and has continued to mis-manage that position since Day 1.

Ah. I thought you read that as LSU beat 9 other SEC teams - which is kind of how I read it at first.

They were tougher than Northwestern and A&M.

I think we get spoiled sometimes with the level of play in conference.

That may be true, but as an author he's a professional ie he gets paid for writing.

Knee jerk criticisms for the sake of post counts are not cool. They are pathetic.

As always, an insightful article and a good read.

I guess when there's no substantive valid way to refute someone's statement, just calling them dumb is the best you've got.

Warner basically said Miles gets a pass for the Florida and Bama losses because we were "supposed to lose". Turning us into a program that is "supposed to lose" when we play a national title contender was Miles' own doing, so he gets no pass for screwing up the program to the point where we are now "supposed to lose".

Love this quote!
quote:

LSU head football coach Les Miles is an extreme coaching example. Despite possessing the best winning percentage of any previous LSU Football coach, there are nonetheless Tiger fans who wish he would bolt yesterday for his Michigan college home.

He is saying a mouthful and he knew what he was saying!
