Can we just focus on a new DC and recruiting? This is getting old.

Except for one thing: that assumption has no basis whatsoever in fact. In reality, LSU was second in the SEC in average time of possession (behind Arkansas). So if the defense was gassed, it wasn't because they were on the field "for way too long."

But I realize facts are only an afterthought when it comes to your agenda.

Statistics are for losers. LSU slowed the game down using most of the clock on virtually every possession to hide QB and keep score close.
No teams ahead of them won their conferences and only 4 of the teams with a higher TOP made bowl games, Michigan St, Arkansas, Wisconsin, and Georgia Tech.
Rank and TOP for 4 best teams:
28 Alabama 31:28
36 Ohio State 31:02
94 Florida State 28:50
113 Oregon 27:37
9 LSU 32:58
Is it not better to score and have a D able to stop other teams? LSU has a lot of 3 and outs.
Don't think TOP holds water in this college football era.

I've said that hiring Les Miles would be the demise of the LSU program. He fooled everyone for a while but now the smoke has cleared. Everyone that said he was doing it with Sabans players was right. 1/9/2012 proves that. There is a reason Michigan never offered him the job, it's because he's just not a total coach

Our defense shouldn't be worn out in games against Clemson and ND where they were rested for a month and couldn't get off the field in the 1st freaking quarter.

NativebulletMiles Gone within two yearsActually, I agree with you. Pretty much everything you said. Although, it's not a very bold prediction though to say 2 years. Few coaches sustain such longevity.

We need a QB ,

While I am not here to defend Chavis, the lack of an offense run by Miles and his Mini Me Cameron, has so often left the D on the field for way too long, and by the 4th quarter the D has been gassed.

ND received the opening kickoff. They converted third & long multiple times on that first TD drive. The D wasn't "gassed", maybe they had gas...but getting off the field on third down has been a problem for years under Chavis. Except for the two seasons he had the Honey Badger, his defenses have been average at best...and whether anyone likes it or not, Miles is here until he decides to retire. You can book that.

There is just no way to argue that we could have been successful at all the past 6 years without Chavis. The reality is that other than last year, we have pretty much sucked at passing the football since 07. Miles may never be able to get over the pick 6 thing from 08.

Miles' future will be decided by the choice at DC. He is obviously unable or unwilling to put in a real offense. We must be stout on D to have any chance of having a good team.

We were ranked 9th nationally in TOP.

Before the bowl game, we averaged 70.3 plays per game. The last time we averaged that many plays was 2007 when we averaged 75. Of course our offense was still terrible, but they damn sure didn't leave the defense on the field all day.

Miles stays for 3 years. Long enough to get Moses here, then he retires. That is what I've believed since the beginning of 2014.
