I get why he chased the money because track opportunities are so much more in Europe. But it sucks that he didn’t at least compete once for his real home country. Maybe before his time is up he comes home and does that.

This guy can have Mondo's US citizenship

And...? Mondo wouldn't be a pole vaulter if not for his athletic Swedish mother.
Obviously.
Not my point.
Again, vault for Sweden.
I’m not cheering for you.

I knew some idiot would get on here and post this crap. Congrats on being the one.

So when Mondo is done with pole vaulting, where will he live out the rest of his years? We all know the answer to that.

You guys are a trip with all the faux outrage. Dude made the best choice for himself and his family.
The guy didn’t join the Taliban. He’s just pole vaulting for Sweden. Lol
-raking in the dough
-representing LSU on a wider level
-unbelievably gorgeous Swedish girlfriend
-father is his coach
-doesn’t have to deal with all the USATF red tape
I believe he gets 100 grand bonus from Sweden for every broken world record (which he’s done like 7 times).
If any of this triggers you, you may want to reflect on why your life is so small that a guy pole vaulting for Sweden hurts your feelings

A lot of you are leaving out one big thing... his parents have always been his coaches/trainers and Sweden agreed to let them continue that.

What I don't understand is why all these fan boys are sucking Mondo's dick. Sure he's from here. I don't blame him for making more money. But who gives a frick if he wins or not? He's not representing us. I don't give a frick about any non American Olympian winning a medal.

I agree with your opinion. It's the culture making this fashionable. I understand if you were born in Sweden, but he wasn't. I hope he sang the Swedish National Anthem in his native North Germanic language. lol

Swedish endorsements? Lol ALOT more taxes.
Good for him. Now stay in Sweden.

You’re surprised that people on an LSU message board root for former LSU athletes competing at higher levels?
Do you also think its weird that people on this board will root for Burrow and Daniels this fall even though they aren’t playing for the Saints?

I don’t blame him at all for living there. Do you realize how many good-looking women he must have available to him in the Scandinavian countries?

At least the LSU education he got taught him which was the smarter decision when choosing between:
-more support and life changing amounts of money OR
-the approval of random people on the internet who DGAF about you or your sport outside of a couple of days once every 4 years.

He didn't leave for glory
He left to get paid
I saw a chart thet the gold medal winner only gets 38k from the US
He are on the low end if paying athletes.
This is a job , he is a capitalist. This is the way

You are either too young or too stupid to realize…
Money isn’t the most important thing in life.
Have some damn pride in your country and not sell your soul for a coin
