Our pitching would struggle. No riley cooper or reyzelmann or gervase most likely.
Gervase committed last April to Paul. Cooper obviously came with Jay and Reyzelmann was one of the first transfers Jay signed. He also brought Bryce Collins with him from AZ. Our pitching would definitely have been worse. Even if we had the same guys, which we wouldn't have, Mainieri and Dunn wouldn't have managed them as well as Jay and Kelly have.

And you’d have a rotation likely of hilliard, fontenot, and money. And youd be relying on the old staff to mix and match the bullpen alot. We would be where kentucky is right now.
I'm not convinced Fontenot returns for his 5th year if Paul hadn't retired. And Money may not have gotten his shite together in the offseason either. Remember he was in danger of not keeping a roster spot at the end of last year. I think the rotation would have been some combination of Hilliard, Coleman, Edwards, and Hellmers.
Really the only thing I think may have been better had Paul stayed would have been defense, but our defense wasn't exactly great last year, and we still would have had the same huge holes talent-wise unless Paul signed another Hal Hughs in the portal.
