This is a result of the hands off, player's-best-friend approach Miles has been using for four years now.
Is this in regard to the percieved loving hug given to T. Johnson after his unsportsmanlike penalty? If so, i am now seeing peoples views of Miles being framed and built by falsehoods and internet opinions. When times get tough, LSU fan goes off of the deep end to figure out what went wrong... and it'll be a billion little things, usually things that relate to someone else they've seen succeed and fail before.
For example, all of a sudden Miles doesn't browbeat the players on the field like Nick= LSU will go down the drain.
We have a poor year on defense after an offseason hire that looks like an old friend hire= DiNardo & Tepper relationship= LSU goes down drain.
The whole winning with another coaches recruits (won't say players) thing that shouldn't even have to be explained why it's ludicrous.
If you don't know whats going on just grasp at anything you hear, read, or remember from the past to help you understand and stick to it is the motto of these knobs, i guess.
What will catch on as the reason behind us whipping GTs arse with the co DC's in place and Miles picking his DC after the bowl? What will it be if we win big next year? Will Miles be a smart manager of men, then? I'm sure of one thing, Mile tenure will not end up just like any other caoch at LSU, or anywhere else. If it ends bad it will be because of many other reasons that do not include Nick Saban or Gerry DiNardo or Mike Archer or Larry Coker.

It's a sad day in Tigerland when a guy screenamed BAMAScoop has to talk sense into a bunch of Tiger fans. Sad, I say.
Bama fan talking sense into LSU fan.....I am checking for signs of the Armageddon and pestilence as we speak!! Nice post.

Scoop, this was copied and pasted on the message board on Tigerbait (rivals pay site) and got great reviews.
Damn shame that it takes a rival fan to make some sense of our current situation.

GREAT post, Scoop. I take back everything that I said about Bama fans in that post over on the SEC Rant. If all Bama fans gave another team credit like you do, we could pull for our teams and pull against the other one, but not be so immature in doing it.
You're all right.
And, you're completely right!

Bryant sure spawned a lot of weird coaches didn't he - Schellenberger, Mike DuBose, Charlie Pell, Danny Ford, Jackie Sherrill, and Pat Dye?

it's quite clear that the 2007 national championship had more to do with them than with Les Miles.
No,its not. That is absurd.

Let me tell you something...from the time that Hurricane Katrina hit our state and and basically life as we knew it was turned upside down, things changed. At that point in the life of the LSU football program, Nick Saban was nowhere in anyone's mind. There were kids experiencing things and facing challenges that they had never and maybe will never face again. They needed a leader to help take them through not only the focus needed to play football, but the help to mentally and emotionally make it through life in general. Les Miles....not Nick Saban...Les Miles brought those kids and our program through that hell of a season with 11 wins and a Peach Bowl win over Miami. Only a leader could have done that. I don't care what you think of Les Miles, with your short, selective, and spoiled memory. He led us in 2005. He followed that up with 11 more wins and a BCS bowl win. He was now the leader of this team and coaching these kids and placing coaches over them to make them successful. These kids weren't being trained by, coached by, or led by Nick Saban but by Les Miles. He then followed that up with 12 wins and a NC. He continued to recruit unbelievably and fill the roster up with star players. When he was faced with the undaunting task of dismissing our star-in-the-making QB I'm sure he knew that we were facing an uphill battle on offense from that point. But it was the right thing to do. When he replaced our defensive coordinator with coaches already on the team, I'm sure he felt it was a decision that could work. Hindsight has shown that it was a bad decision and one that he now realizes. After all Miles has done for this team and after tons of great decisions, I, for the life of me, can't understand the lack of respect, lack of loyalty, and lack of support you show him. He has earned that much. You amaze me.

Miles is a good head coach. He simply made a mistake that cost us a couple of games this year. If he hires the right DC, we'll probably be fine.
Actually, he made one bad decision that cost us a few games (CoDCs) and one good decision that cost us a few games (Perilloux).

Coach Miles is a great coach at a great school.
I agree with half of this. Miles is an average coach who has been handed an amazing set of tools to make him successful. I think he's a great recruiter, as far as star ratings go. If he makes the right hires/decisions on his staff, I think LSU will be back to competing for the West next year.

You know you are in trouble when rival schools are taking up for your coach.

Miles is a very good coach. Whether or not he is a great coach will be told over the course of the next several seasons.
As mentioned earlier in this thread, Stoops and Bryant are/were both great coaches, and each had downturns every once in a while.
The thing that strikes me about this board, and about LSU fans in general, is that the most vocal fans are the most negative. It's why I always hated listening to the radio show after games that we lost. The positive fans like myself were too timid to call in for fear of being dismissed by the host or subsequent callers, while the angry negative fans dominate.
Understand that this board represents a very small portion of LSU fandom, and it tends to be dominated by folks who seem to love negativity.
I believe that Miles will be able to turn things back in a good direction. We were seriously a play or two away from finishing 10-2... The deficiency in QB play and Defense play led to the demoralized team we witnessed the last three weeks and two season-ending losses.
We're gonna be okay.
BTW, those positive fans were surely rewarded for their faithfulness in 2001, 2003, 2007...
