Well, programs are built in more than one season. If you were a recruit and were asked to list the top 10 programs in the country today, I'm sure you would look back a few yrs. Maybe 5 yrs. Maybe the decade. It's upto you to decide.

Offensively, I can name 111 teams better than us...including Vandy, Tulane, Rice, MTSU, LA-Lafayette...just to name a few a few traditional lightweights who made us look weak this year (in several cases in head-to-head battles).

Thank you Les and Gary. On a positive note, we can only improve next year (no disrespect to the five other teams who actually ranked lower than we did in offense this year). I'm scared to think where we would be if we didn't have 4 and 5 start athletes on the team.

Well considering everyone has a different definition. Some are basing their argument based on current seasons, some are using past 10 years as judgement, some are using all-time.

For every argument you can make as to why a current school should be below LSU they could probably make a claim as to why LSU should be below them.

Do Boise St. or TCU count? Can't deny Boise's success over the past coupe seasons.

If you seriously think OSU isn't one of the top ten programs in the nation, I don't know what to tell you.

If you're just messing around, OK.

Top 10? Yes. Better than LSU? Nope. Both hold true imo.

ohio state dominates their conference for several years. LSU isn't top 2 in the SEC right now, clearly ohio state is a better program right now.

however, not sure how V tech or Notre dame are better than LSU as some have suggested in this thread.

The only thing they can say is 2 to 1 BCS National Championships....

Oh and LSU plays in SEC...

Those are going to be the biggest 2 arguments as to why LSU is better than Ohio State.

Oh course if you are going to compare programs you have to look at facilities, coaching, athletic department, on field success, off field success, and many LSU fans no very little about other schools other than LSU.

Va Tech doesnt belong in that list.

Unlike all the others on your list Va Tech has no natural base of excellent players.

Va Tech is the big dog in a small pond.

The reason LSU is on the list is the local interest in the sport.
Excellent high school coaches.
LSU is equal to Western Pennsylvania in size and population.
All the others on the list are in huge states where football is played. For example, New York has no schools on the list.
They play hoops there, and upstate and on the island, lacrosse.

All the rest are sitting on top of some gold mine of local enthusiasm for the sport of football, except Notre Dame, which has the heart strings of 47 million Catholics.
