Without a doubt, the Greatest WR in LSU history. He should have been starting opposite of Rueben Randle in 2011.

Jarvis Landry is a lot like Josh Reed but to the power of 10
Since when is the collective age of the Rant 10 years-old?

the thing with Reed he has so many plays designed for him

Imagine Landry in an offense where he is the top dawg WR like Reed was. Talk about a monster year catching the ball.
Yea imagine a defense being able to double and at times triple team one defender and he still makes them look silly?

This is literally one of the dumbest threads I've ever seen. I'm kinda embarrassed for LSU fans on here. Landry is a damn good WR. If you want to talk about best hands in LSU history, absolutely throw his name down.
But if you're talking the best WR you literally suck at watching football if you think he's on Reed's level. Reed is one of the most dominant players in SEC history, and he did it from the WR position.
Let that set in. He wasn't just dominant by LSU standards, he was dominant by all-time SEC standards. No LSU WR comes close to his on-field skills.

I've never seen someone kick it into a higher gear like Jarvis did for that catch. The two defenders in that play looked like they were standing still the moment after Landry spotted that ball and went for it. He has superhuman powers and showed it on that play and many others. Best ever gets my vote

These arguments make no sense. Reed is not as good because he was the best receiver on the team and we were trying to get him the ball? That's stupid. And Jarvis would be a clear cut ahead if he were in reed's situation? Pretty sure we have an assload of plays designed to go to Landry.!you guys sound retarded.
Landry and reed are the 2 sickest receivers in LSU history. I just don't see how you can deny that reed was a much more consistent force. 2 seasons at receivers for 1,701 and 1,127. 11 100 yard receiving games in 2001 season alone. Teams game plan around both of these guys and you can only hope to contain them. A lot of defenses failed.

Consider that Reid never had a complementary guy like OB. Not taking away from any former or current player but if Landry is the only go to guy like Reid was back then, he would put up numbers like Reid and then some

quote:Reed was my fav lsu player ever.estatic when the bills got him. But I def remember the reports would be he was too slow to be dominant in the NFL.
So you're saying the bills were a great offensive team when Reed was there? You don't think he would have prospered in another system?
He had trouble getting open in buffalo as the 3rd wr.He had peerles price and Eric moulds along with 1500 yard rusher travis i got kidz everywhere henry taking all the attention off of him with drew bledsoe throwing to him and just couldn't shake defenders like college. The thing that turned the buffalo fans against him by year two was he become stone hands. it was weird to see. Maybe during his prime he just couldn't get use to the buffalo cold.
I think he ended up playing 6 seasons with buffalo and never more than 3rd option.

Lol, in one season Reed has almost as many yards as Landry does in his entire three year career.
This is akin to people saying Mett has a stronger arm than Jamarcus. Mett has a really strong arm, possibly tops in the nation this year. Landry is the same way at WR, but to say he's better than Reed is idiotic.

I love Landry but Josh Reed was 100x better. Josh Reed was always open by five yards (because of his own cuts only). Josh Reed on a bubble screen was 20 yards guaranteed. Jarvis on a bubble screen is usually about 3 yards.

Agreed. I think Reed is better. Landry a close second though.
Most of these kids posting in the thread were in elementary school when Reed was playing. Not that it means they can't have their own opinion, but likely it would be skewed to recent history.

There is none. I have never seen anyone do what he does!!! JL is the best...HANDS DOWN!

Landry has 75 catches for 15.6 yds per
Reed had 94 for 18.5 yards per
Also, they didn't count bowl stats and he had 14 catches for 239 and 2 TDs in the Sugar Bowl against Eugene Wilson who played probably 8 years in the NFL.
That would be for 108 catches for 1,979 yards in one season or about 200 more yards than Landry has for his career.

I agree that Reed was great, it's close but Landry makes superhuman plays and is better.

Would it matter? Landry catches passes against triple teams!!!! The "GOAT"!!!

I am not being hyperbolic when I say that Landry is the best receiver we've ever had.
Although he won't finish with the most career anything, we've never had a guy that was that "clutch".
If I were picking a team from all former lsu players, he would be my first receiver picked, with sincere apologies to mr Martin, reed, bowe, kennison, etal

I always feel Clayton gets shafted a bit in these conversations....

Josh Reed was dominant after the catch, had great hands, and was always wide open. He was basically unstoppable even when the defense knew we were going to throw it to him.
Were you even around to watch him play, or are you just looking at his stats (which also reflect the ridiculous factors above)?
ETA: I think I got sucked in by an obvious troll thread. Well done and congrats on the number of pages. If not trolling, then stick to basketball.
