I think CLM retires at the end of the year.
I agree with this because of his NFL ties.

Not necessarily disagreeing with anything else you're saying, but I highly doubt Miles coaches for another 20 years. He's 56 years old now (soon to be 57). So you're predicting he'll coach until he's 77?!

Alright... this makes some sense. I am off the bandwagon, but this makes sense. Here's hoping we can get quality OCs to come here every 3-4 years (when those guys leave to be HC somewhere else).
I have to admit, Miles' stupid sounding press moments were amusing when we were still an elite team. If we can get back there, I'll have a want to enjoy Miles' press persona.

LOL.
OK, 10+ years.

Sarcasm, right?

I just wanted to bump this because I think it is the most concise statement of why I can be more positive.
Yes, I think Miles is a gameday idiot. BUT, he can recruit and, as I said.
DC-Going nowhere........not a coaching nomad.
Get an OC like him and you're on to something.
AND, if Miles manages to do this, the OC and DC will be here a while because Miles has coached his way out of EVER getting offered a better job than LSU.

My point being, Miles and Crowton are as far apart regarding offensive philosophy as two coaches can be.
So was Miles and Jimbo. Both OC's have national championship rings.
It would be interesting if some posters from schools where Crowton has coached could give us an opinion on Crowton's lack of clock management at his former jobs.

Honestly, I wish I could agree with you, but unlike on Defense where Miles is hands off, the new offensive coordinator will always have to deal with Miles' tinkering.
Also, does another top notch OC willingly come here given the Crowton and Jimbo situations.

Um, look, ya know I don't like Miles.
But Jimbo managed to parlay his LSU gig into a guaranteed HC job.
I'm not sure you can use him as an example of why an OC wouldn't want to follow in his footsteps.

You would think so but honestly, not on the Def side of the ball as long as Chavis is here.
So, get the OC version of Chavis.
Look, I'm not trying to pump daisies up your arse. I think Miles on the sidelines is a pure unadulterated idiot.
But, this is how I can envision him succeeding. You actually can do this in college ball. Bowden got away with it for a LOOOOOOOONNNNG time.
Bowden is a good example of someone who should have been let go 5 years ago except for what he did in the past for FSU. I keep thinking this will happen to Mack Brown in the future, but he still is getting top talent, so for now, he is still safe for seveal more years, & was able to get to NC game last year. I know folks are frustrated right now, but Miles will be here thru next year, even if he loses 5 of the next 6 games. His contract makes him 'fire proof' for at least another year, & even then, I think he is still safe...that's the reality of the situation...

miles will always interfere with the offense.

+1
Also......
Lee, Jefferson and Nothing Else does not equal great recruiting.

This.
If Miles died tomorrow, Gruden would NOT top my list.
People ASSUMED kids would line up for Weis.
How'd that work out?

Where are the good offensive coordinators in the country who's offensive vision is a slow FB playing tailback and running up the middle every play in a 3 TE set? Thats clearly the only type that will match up with Les' vision.
