course knowledge is part of a runner's responsibility. but it's tough if it's a race official that leads you the wrong way.

honda left for a year and a half, so that's time lost compared to the other engine makers. and newey gardening leave added to it. you're not gonna have success when you've spent so much less time developing.
they got a late start compared to everyone. also rumors newey asked them to change the engine last minute to fit his design. remember newey also came in late.
