I like UT's chances against your starter tonight (Ross). Kid got roughed up against UVA and Arky and has an ERA of 5.

He pitched very well against UVA and we were killing them against Arkansas. It will be different tonight when the game is actually on the line

Was I the only one who heard the UT fans doing their version of "Geaux" "Tigers" with "LSU" "Sucks"?

It sounded pretty clear on my television.

thekid,
Thanks for a rational post. However, I was screaming at the guy who skipped...it was an in-you-face move that was out of bounds in my opinion; the belt deal was a bit much; and yes, the curtain calls were absurd...that said, Tx hit us with their best shot; Coleman was off; & after 11 innings, the Tigers STILL remained victorious...the name-calling and criticizing entire states due to a baseball game is way over the top...but par for the course on the Rant...it's a sport in itself...fact is, Tigers are tougher, mentally and physically than the opposition; I was screaming at Coach M to take Louis out earlier and wasn't happy about Hanover, but you know, Coach knows what he's doing...and I don't...and neither do most of the folks on this Board...when we were down, I told my husband, You got to have faith...tonight, the Tiger Faithful will gather far and wide & at the end of the game, we will celebrate another National Championship & it won't matter who skipped or who initiated bogus curtain calls or who called who bitch...Tx will just be second and no one remembers the runner up. Let's get 'em, guys!

Why? what's the big deal, it happens in MLB all the time.

Not so. It does not happen in MLB all the time or even occasionally. It has to be earned and loudly demanded by the fans. Even then, class players have to be literally pushed out of the dugout by their team mates. Your player was grandstanding and it is poor form in any league.

Let's give them a 'runner's up" trophy to prop up the women's room door, since they already have one for the men's room.

Just give them bathroom stall wall with a pre-cut glory hole. Those Austin-types will appreciate that much more than another meaningless trophy.

I have always hated the entire state of texless..even before the baseball game. I have family the lives in texless and I can still say I have never seen anything worth a damn come out of that state....unless you consider extreme arrogance to be a good thing

Why?
I think it was a very appropriate camera shot. That was the story of the game- especially had UT won.
Very similar to Cresse standing there leaning back with both arms raised..or Morris rounding first base with arms in the air screaming.
DOnt get me wrong...I didnt like seeing it, but only because I'm an LSU fan....I saw nothing wrong with teammates celebrating their success.

Augue taking his starting pitcher out. I thought he was some baseball genius/guru/know-it-all.

He took his starter out to bring in one of the best LH reliever's in the game to face a guy who has had terrible problems hitting LH pitching. (and who'd roped his starter pretty good in two previous ab's).

Frankly, I think Mitchell's hit was a turning point in the game. A month ago, that's an easy K and the inning ends with no harm (to UT) done. Last night, it cost 'em two runs.

Some jackass (deuceiswild) responding to the home run sign that the Texas player was doing in the dugout:

That was a dumb, moronic statement that shows you have terrible problems making analogies. Morris hit a bottom of the ninth, WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING homerun! Not a meaningless solo shot during the middle of a first game of a 3 game series.

The way it looked to me, since Hanover has hit a couple of home runs recently, he has decided that he is a power hitter and is swinging for the fence every time. He was not patient and looked like he was up there to swing at anything. Both of his at bats were very poor, he chased pitches way out of the strike zone. I'm just glad the other players were able to pick it up.

BTW, IMHO the LSU players were all swinging for the fences through the first 6 innings. I guess they thought that if "light hitting" Texas could hit HR's then they should all try to do the same. I'm just glad they settled down.

okay i started the thread a few weeks ago about how the Florida Catcher was a class less punk during the Super Regionals. All the fans agreed that he showed no class and was a punk and should have been thrown out. After that i posted a question asking if that would have been Gibbs who did it, would you feel the same way. Almost everyone said they wouldnt have said a thing.

So im going to ask this, if that had been Schimpf or any of the LSU players who had hit the homerun and did a curtain call for the fans, would you have cheered or would you be saying the same things you are saying bout the Texas players?
