O line opened up holes this game that they seemed to struggle with last year. T-bob wasn't laying on his butt near as much as when he's under center. How long till blackwell gets back?

I completely disagree. I know you are just trying to stay positive, but I am telling it how it is. Hebert starting is a major blow to the o-line

its todd mcclure not trey, trey played baseball. T-bob actually played pretty well at guard, but Im thinking maybe lonergan at guard and tbob at center may be best for the long haul.

O line was my #1 concern going into this season, and they looked pretty good in the first game, particularly factoring in the Blackwell injury. One sack is a huge improvement, and there were large lanes for Ridley to run through. I'd like to see how it continues, but that was an encouraging performance.

I am curious what Chris Faulk can do.

The pass blocking broke down at times in the 2nd half, but that was also when JJ seemed to be reverting to his old ways of holding the ball and bailing out too far straight backwards. They both looked much better in the first half. I though the run blocking was a VAST improvement over last year. I know this was UNCs second string, but maybe you guys don't remember the UW, ULL, and Tulane games last year. I am pretty sure the D-Line we faced Sat was far better than any of those, as depleted as it was. If the rest of the starters stay healthy and Hurst settles in, they could really be good by the time SEC play rolls around.

Lonergan to guard and Hebert to center makes both positions weaker. The next best guard (Branch/Williford/whoever) should start. Hebert played as best as he can, but he's out of position, under-weight, and coming off of a broken leg. The last thing JJ needs is pressure up the middle.

I watched the game three times and have to say that the O-line was MUCH improved over last year. I believe JJ got a little out of sorts in the second half and reverted a bit to bad habits. That made the line look a little less. If you watch the play by play and really WATCH, you can see that many times, the D was getting blown off the ball. That didn't happen much last year. Yes they had problems at times on some blitz packages but these are things that can be picked up on with a bit more time together. All in all, I liked their play.

Subtract JJ running yards, he won't get those in the SEC. He will get hurt if he runs that dang option.

I think we simply need to be bigger, and Hebert doesn't provide that.

Insert Williford, or move Hurst and insert Faulk, and we are SEC big again on the line.

Barksdale- big
Dwor- not so much
Lone- Big for center
Williford/Hurst- big
Hurst/Faulk- big

can we subtract his sack yardage too then? cause we'd still be near 200.
