But to say that Bama's SEC schedule is a joke is quite a stretch. It's not an excuse.

I didn't say it was a joke, but I think it's extremely favorable for Bama. No Florida, No Georgia, LSU at Home. They play 3 away games: Ole Miss, Miss St. & Kentucky. It's not an excuse. If LSU had their schedule, we'd be favored to win the West.

Tell me about Saban's recruiting overall at LSU.

those 3 o-linemen he signed in his last 3 classes has really worked out well for us...

what IF saban had never been hired? instead, they hired miles after your 2 losing seasons, instead. does anyone think he would have built it back as fast as saban.

Interesting question but not a fair comparison in 1999 when Saban was hired. At that point in time, Saban had 6 years of college Head Coaching experience and 3-4 years as an NFL DC. Miles had no HC experience, was a coordinator in college and a position coach in the NFL. He did do a decent job of turning around Ok St, so who knows, my feeling is no due to lack of experience at the time.

It is, however a moot point, since Les Miles would not have been a consideration at that point. The most likely candidates had we not hired Saban were Mark Richt and Rich Rod.

Given their respective starting points at LSU, the fact that Miles is anywhere close to approaching Saban's 5-year loss total, and will almost certainly post a worse 5-year SEC record, is disappointing to say the least.

Sort of misleading way to look at it, all of Miles loses have been to SEC teams, but the SEC is even tougher now than it was during the Saban years. Look at the coaches. It depends on what happens this year and next.

Good point. When Saban was at LSU, he didn't have to deal with Saban being at Alabama.
