Point is aTm was not a real loss in the minds of certain LSU folks such as yours truly. 10-3 is official... 11-2 is the truth that goes beyond official:)
I hate shite like this. If Smart continues to feeds Holyfield, we lose to Georgia. If Deshaun Davis had jumped one inch higher, we lose to Auburn. At the end of the day, you are what your record says you are. Last year, our record said 3 losses and 3rd in the west.
Bottom line: Orgeron’s best game against Saban was akin to Miles’ worst. If he can’t win this year, he likely won’t in 2020, either and we’re talking about a coaching search in 2021.

LSU winning 11 (because I refuse to count tamu as a loss, bc we got jobbed and won the game on the field)
How embarrassing

I do as well. Plenty of games can go either way.

This year tells all. Orgeron has proven he’s really good as the underdog. When he’s backed into a corner and nobody expects success, he’s a great motivator in those situations.
This year, the expectations are vastly different. If he can navigate this team to a playoff birth, then I think everyone would be confident saying he’s capable of elevating this program and the optimism surrounding future recruiting classes has substance beyond typical fan excitement.
If we lose 2-3 games this season, it will be a disappointment and fair to continue doubting that he’s the guy to get us over the point where Miles typically landed. Good, but not great.
Next year looks to be a bit tougher bc we lose a lot of talented experience. That magnifies the importance of this season. A disappointing year followed up by a rebuilding year won’t afford him much more time.

Either acknowledge when people are giving the coach praise and credit or shut the frick up about the same people hating the coach. You can't have it both ways and it makes you look like an idiot.
The point is that I don't think Coach O will ever have another loss like that and he pretty much said as much before the Rice game when he said "we learned our lesson last year" when answering a question about having a letdown.
I don't understand what people like you get out of twisting everything to the most negative thing possible. Why is it so important to you that people dislike the head coach?

I applaud him for a job well done! It's apparent some people will never give him the proper respect for the great job he's done, but I think he's proven he's the man for the job. I hope he's around for a long time!

1) most criticizing didn't expect him to be here at this point
2) I'm happy where we are. We are able to compete for a championship this year. That doesn't mean that 9-3 is acceptable every season.
3) Improvement has to be made. 9-3 will not cut it this year, but he's built it his way and we are primed for a run this season. I don't see how anyone could be upset today.

Pathetic nonsense. We still have a below average offensive line and a very difficult schedule. Our defensive line is average until Shelvin and Ika step up. Yes we have a solid veteran QB and the receiver back. Very THN at experience at RB. Anyway very optimistic. And it is ridiculous to say thismyear is make it or break it

That guy is a joke. Don’t waste your time trying to hold civil conversation with him. So much hate. And

There’s always gonna be some question marks around any team. At some point, the head coach is expected to play for a conference championship at least.
I hate excuses like lacking talent here or there. Who’s fault is that?
We have an AD who expects championships. The Alleva days are over. It’s time to raise the bar, folks.

O will not be given 5-10 years to prove he can compete for NCs. If he doesn’t compete this year, Woodward will require him to do so in 2020, even though the team loses a lot in 2020 to the NFL. If he doesn’t, Scott will move on.
You and Scott hang out on the weekends?

Been a minute my friend. Hope all is well. I have been staying away ,a bit. Been hanging around school , lots of great things are going to happen with in the basketball program.

Again I ask. When did he win a national championship for LSU? Because that is the standard for proving you are “the man for the job”. The last two head coaches both won one. That is our expectation of any coach.
Orgeron has not done a bad job but to say he is doing a “great job” with having even gotten us to the playoffs of even the SECCG is just ridiculous. He May get us there. He’s recruiting well. He seems to be at least attempting to try something new offensively. So he’s got a lot of positive things going for him and the program. I hope he can put it all together and bring us another championship. If he can bring LSU another national championship, then he will be deserving of being called a “great hire”.

This woodward worship is weird because he's not really rolling in hardware.
I love the hire, but it seems the Rantards have woven a fairy tale around the guy. They'll turn on him once he doesn't do what they want. Just watch.

Yep. Way too many wild expectations around Woodward. As you say, I love the hire and think he will do good things. But, to already be predicting championships is premature IMO.
Posted on 7/28/19 at 8:33 am to RogerTheShrubber
He just started in May
Philosophically, he’s vastly different than what we’ve had in a long time. He will go after big time, proven coaches if sitting coaches aren’t doing the job to his standard. That’s not wild or fairytale. That’s his background.

They have this fantasy cooked up in their head about Woodward with literally no data

With that being said, I was never an O basher, nor someone who ran through walls for him. To me, it was a "wait and see" position.
I was all in for Fisher until he extorted us for more than he was worth to LSU. I was all in for Herman until I realized he played us to get the UT job. At that point I did not have another candidate over Orgeron.
As with anything the value of something is what you are willing to pay for it and like it or Alleva did us a favor by not mortgaging the program. Back when we were looking for a HC we still owed Miles a shitton of money. Fisher was looking for a guaranteed retirement check that would have locked us up for 7-10 yrs when you combined the CLM buyout.
CEO on the other hand was inexpensive and allowed us to spend more on the coordinators and position coaches. This option also allowed us to have flexibility down the road if we wanted it. Also at the time of the permanent hire CEO had a 80% winning record at USC and LSU which was more indicative of the LSU environment he would be in. So to me it was not a big risk and had a lot of upside.
