She declined an interview, she's too big of a puss to take the job.

When was she offered an interview?

It seems like LSU first choice was Candrea and then Murphy. Murphy took the job. Not sure where she would have even been in the running at that point

From what Alleva said it sounds like he offered to interview her for the HC today and she declined.

Why would he leave bama in the first place? They've been top 5 for years now. $$$$?
Didn't know he was announced as coach until just now, but I would've thought his original decision to leave bama was a BS move to begin with.

That means we have NO SHOT at a first-tier coach after being burned in this awkward situation.

We have to go 2nd rung, even after showing we'll pay to set the bar higher than anyone in the Sport.

Get serious!

Remember a few years ago when Alabama fired Shula and got turned down by several coaches. They thought they finally had a deal w/Rich Rod when he punted on them. They did pull out more money but I don't think Saban was considered a 2nd tier college coach.

I feel bad for the ladies. As they were so excited for this move. Hopefully we can make a decent hire to make up for this

Alleva: I asked Alyson Habetz (Murphy's asst from Crowley) if she wanted to interview. She said, "I'm not ready to be a head coach."

“LSU offered me a great opportunity, but I realized once I got there that I had made a mistake that had nothing to do with LSU. I realized that I belong at Alabama. Alabama is where my heart is and I cannot in good conscience try to do a job in which I am not totally committed beyond any doubt. I can honestly say that the last few days have only made it clear that Alabama is where I want to be – beyond any doubt. It would have been totally unfair to everyone at LSU – especially the players – for me to be conflicted at all about where I was.”

- Patrick Murphy

If this is true and you have that much of your "heart" in Alabama, you don't make a rushed decision, you know what being there means when offered another job. He talked to several people, including Girouard, made a decision to leave, met with the team at LSU, got them going and excited, had to think about what it means to bring his associate head coach who is from the area with him and think about those ramifications as her family was thrilled and would get to see her more often. And then turns around and backs out????!!! Something smells rotten here. I heard that Habetz was going back with him and I hate to hear that because I'm from Crowley originally, have known her family and they are a tight knit group and have to be disappointed!

Alleva's statement is pretty terse and it doesn't feel like LSU feels it did anything that would cause him to back out.

I hope we find an unbelievable coach! It would be a big disappointment to get someone who may or may not turn out to be the coach we need. We need a home run hire! How about Florida's coach? LOL!!

I felt the same way when I read it. especially this part

“We will use this opportunity to find a coach who will be the right leader for our student-athletes, who will wear the purple and gold with pride and will lead the softball program with integrity.”

You think maybe ther'll be a large crowd to welcome him for the first game Bama plays here next spring?
Damn, we could make that place rock!

Pretty immature to come out and do a presser at your "new" team, tell your previous team "I'm gone" , and then change your mind about the whole thing. As it was already stated, Bama shouldn't feel too good about getting him back given the situation. For any job, before you pull the trigger on jumping to another company , you are expected to already have researched the oppurtunity before you say yes.

I am just hearing about all this...WTF?? I just don't get it...if Murphy is so much in to Bama, why leave in the first place?? It's one thing to 'listen' to an offer, but this dude takes the offer, comes to B.R. does the press conference, meets the girls, and changes his mind after a few days!? Wow...
