So is this thread still PP >>>> Sanders
I mean what is apparent is Peterson has more "tools" and probably more athleticism than Sanders, however, many players could claim that as well. The difference is Sanders production was outstanding and he literally changed the game. Will Peterson do that? I don't know, one is coming out of college and the other is going into Hall of Fame...
For arguments sake though I think entering the HOF means more than coming out of college so put me on the side of Sanders > Peterson

Yeah the example was a bit extreme. But I don't think he would have flourished as "one of the best ever". Against this level of competition. Still would have been good, probably even great, just have a hard time seeing him school people like Howard on the regular.

why would a point guard have to worry about schooling a center?
your argument is misplaced anyway. the biggest worry would be magic adapting to the different game more than the players

I am by no means an NBA fanatic, I'll stop pretending to know everything about the league. Carry on.
But the fact remains that comparing a junior in college to a HOF'er is idiotic.

You do realize most of Julio's catches came against zone or with Peterson forced to play off? Or am I not seeing the obvious troll?

You are mising my point. Deion has WAY more football speed than PP. He is/was able to cover more ground than PP can. and Julio Jones would have NEVER got 11 catches against Deion like PP gave up last year. Plus he is/was a far superior return man. Need I go on????
And you are missing the bigger point. Even though Deion was the best cover corner and return man, he couldn't tackle for shite. Anyone trying to say he was even a decent tackler has no clue about football.
That being said, he still dominated as a cover corner and it will take a lot for PP to even come close to his overall CB ability, PP will have a huge advantage with his much more dominant physical ability to come up in the run game and tackle.

I think you could argue that a lot of Julio's catches on PP, PP was actually in good position. Just really difficult throws to defend. Not a lot of corners are going to be able to defend those back shoulder throws when they're put on the money.
That being said it's obviously way too early to make any comparisons to Deion. I think PP will have to improve his technique and tighten up a bit in the NFL but I think he has the potential to be a top 5 corner in the league and be a weapon on punt returns.

WHAT! You all need to go and check yourselves into a mental facility. Revias and Baily are both better corners than him. In order to be the greatest you have to tackle. Sanders was a pussy. He "made a business" decision when it came to tackling. As far as him not getting challenged, go watch the 49's do it. saw it on a regular basis.

Some random thoughts here...Sanders was both a great cover guy, a great return guy, AND overhyped- he never missed a chance to promote himself, and the media ate it up..And it is a fact that he couldn't/wouldn't tackle for shite.....and don't throw out baseball-except for his speed, Deion ws nothing apecial as a baseball player.......When they were both active players, Rod Woodson was voted to the All-Time NFL team-not Deion. Some pretty knowledgeable people considered Woodson to be more of an all-time great then Deion, at least at that time.......And I can remember the Niners putting up 50plus on the Falcons whth Deion AND Brian Jordan in their backfield.....I guess Montana picked on the other two guys......

HOMER ALERT!!!!!! Jones = 11 balls caught last year. HE GOT OWNED IN TS
It's a lie. Julio Jones caught 10 passes for an 8.9 yards per catch average against LSU's secondary. Far below his season average.

I really didn't think PP did that well against the top receivers he faced. Julio Jones caught a lot of balls and even stiff armed him to the ground one time. A&M's guy did well too.
That said the offense Always has the advantage and I cant image another corner doing better.
