It's coming, logistics still to work out, but its coming. They need another revenue source and this is the next step. They were waiting until the parking garage was underway and they are about to break ground on that one. Any entrance to a lot with a valid spot will be a pay spot. As far as other places, they may charge a tailgate fee for parade ground or other locations in order to recoup trash fees and clean up fees (that will be their justification since people can't clean up after themselves)

I'm calling shenanigans. They use prisoners and service groups to clean up the trash. It will be real interesting to see how this plays out.

I don;t know about the lots you are referring to, but the grassy area between Nicholson and the Natatorium, which is now free, will be an expansion of Lot O and will require a pass. Thisw is one good sized group of tailgaters that will be looking elsewhere.

it's also been discussed in my circles to close free lots like the hayfield until 6-7 hours before kickoff and offer season ticket holders right to park there early

UGA does this. When i was up there last year we paid 50 bucks to park NEAR campus. No one could tailgate on campus unless it was a greek or school organized tailget (alumni get together etc). Let me tell you it seriously brings tailgaiting down. At UGA you can't even tailgate until 2-3 hours before kickoff.
I wouldn't put this past LSU but it would kill what is the greatest tailgating atmosphere on earth.

The Texan's do the no tailgating more than 4 hours before kick off and you must leave 2 or 3(I think)hours after the game is over. This year they said that you must have a game ticket to the game in order to get in to the tail gate area. Now I understand that you can buy a tailgate ticket. What a night mare. Wonder what they allow at Duke?

We pay $100 TAF fee plus $300 Parking pass per year.

Glory! Thank you Lord; finally!! No more getting up at dawn to secure a spot, especially if you live outside the BR metro area, no more excessive trash all over campus. No more drunks before noon. No more people who have no tickets and have no interest in the school other than an opportunity to drink in an open forum!! Praise Be!!!!!!!!!

We set up a big tailgate nad have a TV for those that cannot attend. I don't think it's fair to say that if you don't have a ticket you can't be on campus. I love the fact that LSU's tailgating is enormous. Getting out there early and what not is just part of it. You can't expect to get prime tailgating spots by showing up at noon.

I have watched can hunters empty trash cans looking for empty beer cans. The mess is partially due to these folks dumping out trash cans. Just saying.

We leave Houston at 4 or 5 to get our spot by 8 or 9. If we have to pay I will still come early to tailgate.

Hippies and bums..terrible for LSU!
No to point fingers but where i tailgate it is predominantly greek tailgates that leave most of the trash and couches out there post tailgate. Also for our last tailgate at the Bama game we didn't even get a garbage can or a recycling bin.

And no more traditional tailgating as we know it !! "Change for the sake of change" is not a good thing. This could potentially kill a 10 year tradition of tailgating for our group of 50 around the Parade Ground and Boyd parking lot. Multiply that by 1000 tailgate parties and you have.... Tulane. LSU... Stop trying to fix what's not broken. The revenue you will derive from these permits will irreparably affect donations to TAF, LSU Foundation and LSU Athletic Dept. Don't penalize your most loyal supporters for outrageous state cutbacks that affect our faculty, students, and your bottom line.

And there are TONS of Parade Ground area tailgaters that use trailers. LSU gameday parking permit rules don't allow trailers.
It will be interesting to see how and if this progresses.

Don't see how they can pull this off, but if they do, total bullshite

There was talk about this among administration but its NOT happening. They've actually been reviewing this for a few years now. There is no way to efficiently make it work. I wouldnt lose any sleep over it.

on the interior of the campus, as one person mentioned, utilize and install more of those gates to limit access into the interior of the campus. then they can charge a toll to access the university grounds after 5 PM on Fridays

They can't do this!
I OWN my spot on campus, because I've been tailgating there for years!!!
