68 points shot by shot
You will also notice Phil Jackson in the game late.
I was there that night, 5th row.
ESPN obit
Old timers game highlights 18 pts in 18 mins

That's just fricking insane to think about.
He already has a record that will never be touched...imagine adding another 8 ppg. Just wow

44 points per game over 3 years without the 3-point shot. Averaged 40 plus as a freshman. Dale Brown charted all of his shots in college and estimated he averaged 13 3-pointers per game. So, 57 points per game average potentially. Yes, maybe defenders step out if he's taking a 3, but do you remember how well he could drive and shoot free throws (30 for 31 in 1 game). You come out on Pete and he drives right past you, so. 69 against Alabama and 68 against Walt Frazier and the Knicks, AND fouled out of that game on a bogus offensive foul with time left in the game.

My understanding of his heart condition was no one would have known of the abnormality unless an autopsy is performed. It was said after the autopsy was done that people with his congenital heart defect didn't live past their late teens and should have died at the most in their early twenties....it's a wonder he lived as long as he did....

His dad lived on Chevelle about ten houses from Old Hammond Highway and we would ride our Schwinn Stingrays from the other block where I lived and watch him shoot in the driveway for hours. And I mean hours.
