Bowl games are pointless and are antiquainted.
Players and coaches a like are skipping them.
No one every gets upset when coaches show no loyalty to thier program and leave before a season is finished.

The old SEC players weren't about to get paid like the new are. Its a business decision for those that do sit. These elite high school players aren't coming to your favorite school because of academics, they are coming to get in the NFL.

Corey Thompson would be playing if he could play, 6th year senior who has undergone 5 surgeries in his career.
Donnie Alexander if he could go would absolutely play, he has probably the most to gain relatively speaking out of the three, good chance he goes undrafted. He is losing money by not playing and hurting his draft stock.
Key - is making the right choice, he wanted to go. CEO like he did with Leonard did the right thing in the best interest of the man. Huge risk/reward if he were to play. Going against likely the #2 pick and the best offensive line, Key could sky rocket and solidify a Top 20 draft position. There are some mocks that dont have him in the first anymore. If he were to get hurt or have previous injuries flare up he could potentially lose millions.
He has to crush the combine, which if healthy he should. But if he shows up at the combines, workouts, or pro days and his injury takes away some of his freak athleticism. Then he is just a tremendously talented 3-4 edge rusher, with failed drug tests, leaving his team and coming back out of shape raising the question of his love for the game, and a guy with durability and a question whether he brings it every play especially weak side pursuit.

IF a player is injured he should NOT play period .

How did the fans make it possible ? By paying the highest paid state employees through taxation to train up young millionaires .

Mack Brown just commented on coaches skipping bowl games and how difficult it is for a new OC to jump right in and call a bowl game . A team that has achieved a certain level of play with hard work will not be the same team without all of its essential elements on bowl game day .

We get it, key checked out and doesn't want to play.
Dude was a huge distraction this whole year. Hope he does well in the NFL.

This is why I'm losing interest in both college and professional football. It's all about the money from high school forward. Gave up my season tickets this season because I was tired of sitting through 4-5 hour games because of TV revenue. Money ,money , money and millenials.
Scanning through most of the bowl games that have been played and most are half empty. Everyone is chasing a buck. The post season has been diluted with meaningless games for half-arse teams that should be sitting at home. Expand the playoffs and get rid of these trash bowls. I feel better now!

A school is locked in to a 4 year scholly and the cost. Wanna turn it in early, pay it back. A contract for a scholarship goes both ways. Worried about injury? Buy an insurance policy and quit being a snowflake.

Tradition is good junger. I know you all are positive that you are re-inventing the wheel but ride the turnip truck around a few more times and then fall off and then come back at me .

If worried about injuries affecting NFL money , take out an insurance policy.
Those policies really only help someone who may be in the first round. They do nothing for the kid who would be a mid to late round pick who picks up a lingering injury in the bowl game and has a shitty combine and workouts.
Play the game or quit the team?

I think it can go both ways.
A guy like Key, on the one hand, he wants to be in as good a condition as possible to work out for the combine, and enter the draft as healthy as possible.
If I'm a GM, at some point I DO want to see if a guy will play. Sitting to protect himself doesn't miraculously go away once you get a check, and the NFL is a longer season. If I'm not sure a guy can give me more than 9-10 games max, he's gonna be below a comparable talent that I feel is more durable, and has more locker room intangibles. I don't want any more me-first primadonnas on the roster than I have to have.

It should be mandatory! I agree, typical Millenials and their weak mindsets.
Shut up.
Can your employer force you stay and work for several months even though you've been offered a much better and higher paying job? No. You can walk away from a job at any given moment and they can fire you at any given moment.
This is the same thing.

Not playing does not keep you from being injured. You still have to work out, lift weights, etc. Also players are injured in non contact drills.
That's what all NFL players do. How many of them sit out the pro bowl?
