This person is going as far as to say "I wish Jennings would break his leg" is a threat. I just don't see it.
No that's nothing. He'd have to actually say "I'm going to find Jennings and brake his leg". (Disclaimer: that's an example. Not gonna hurt anybody)

Does the Administration at LSU have any legal authority to go after fans on social media sites for speaking crudely about players and coaches? I say no. but I've got someone saying the school can and will report slander and threats to law enforcement.
For example....nothing wrong with saying "player X is really struggling and I think player Y should get more playing time" compared to "player X sucks, I wish he would get hit by a bus on the way to practice so player Y would start"

In my only 150 or so posts, I've been suspended at least 10 times and can't figure out why most of the time.

also it works different when it is a public figure such as miles vs a regular ole joe.

I think you're looking for defamation of character.
I'm familiar with the difference. CBS had a writer publish an article last year saying that Hill was a rapist. He was charged with carnal knowledge and not rape. This was used to accentuate how dangerous Hill was.
Regardless, I hope the school contacted them about that.

oh snap, the rant's gon get sued
seriously, that's a fricking stupid thing to try to scare critics with.
as for reporting actual threats, that's of course legit. and of course actual threats aren't happening.

Threats, slander, and libel are different than negativity. Threats can be reported to the police, slander and libel are civil torts--the police has nothing to do with them. But unless someone is out there saying something really bad (and false) about a particular player, LSU isn't going to waste its time.

WOW! You should really take a step back and reread the constitution to get a better understanding of what it does and does not protection from before you call anyone a dumbass.
Read: Constitution provides protections, limits, and duties for the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, not LSU.

You're an idiot. The only people LSU could possibly censor would be students, but even then, the censorship would limited to a very narrow range of instances--for example, the ban on TKE game day signs. The students must be doing something that violates the LSU Student Code of Conduct.
Again, threats are actionable by the police, and LSU could take someone to court for libelous or slanderous statements. But they can't do anything to people voicing displeasure at the football team.

You seem confused.
I'm saying that the press, social media have the right to freedom of speech. They can bash Miles all they want. Same way social media and the press can bash the president all they want. You have a freedom of speech. Its not that difficult to understand.

Nah brah, all universities have the legal right to arrest people for speech violations, cause the first amendment only applies to the Federal Government. I remember back in 2006 mah podna posted "Geaux Tigers! Beat Bama!" on his myspace and wouldn't you know it, the next day his door is busted down and his room is filled with Bama professors. Walked out of his front door in handcuffs clasped on by Mike Shula himself. Had to go to SEC Court in Birmingham and everything. His lawyer tried to appeal to NCAA Court but you know how that dog Mike Slive is. He gets outta da clink next year.
