Well it might take a couple of more years to reveal the answer to that question. Nobody really knows what kind of coach Saban can be after four years. Maybe his schtick starts to wear on his players.
Most Alabama fans and some LSU fans don't give Miles the credit he deserves for his record and the Nationl Championship HIS team won in his first three years. They want to discount it and say he won with Saban's players. However, they fail to recognize that Saban went 9-4 in the record books (and 8-5 on the field) and was 7 points from going 6-7 with all that same talent in his last year at LSU. The record books for that year reflect that we won a home game against Oregon State that year, but Saban's team did not beat them, Oregon State beat themselves when there kicker, one of the best in the nation that year, missed three extra points and or field goals that game. The great Saban and all of his talent he left Coach Miles was also trailing the mighty Troy team with less than two minutes to go, before we got lucky and hit a long pass to set up a score at the end of the game. And then there was the three point victory over the MIGHTY Ole Miss Rebels. Miles record has slipped after those first three years, just as Saban's did after his first three years at LSU. While at Oklahoma St. Miles proved he could win with less talent by beating Oklahoma twice when they were ranked in the top 3 (one of only two games Stoops has lost at home at Oklahoma). And both Miles and Saban have proven they can recruit well. So I say the jury is still out. Maybe we know after this year or maybe the next.
awesome.

How is Miles a bad football coach?
Scoop, too many LSU fans are focused on Miles' 15 loses instead of his 54 wins.

Saban is a great coach but he made plenty of mistakes when he was at LSU. For some reason people seem to want to forget that tho.

Thoughtful thread. Enjoyed reading the discussion.
Why do imagine the same original post from anyone but BamaScoop (an 'outsider) would elicit far less empathetic and reasonable replies?
Anyhow, thanks, Scoop. Dig reading your shite and the responses it typically generates.

i sense a shift in the LSU fans mood. not very long ago, the thread would have immediately deteriated into a miles hate fest and would have remained there as poster after poster tried to outdo the others "proving" how bad miles was.

Scoop why do you enjoy stirring the pot?
Posted on 9/21/10 at 9:48 pm to tduecen
Is it stirring the pot? Or does he just have more (impartial) perspective than most of us insiders?
Posted on 9/21/10 at 9:49 pm to ATR
No it is stirring pot, scroll through his post history to see what he says about Miles in 09/08/07 etc

Tired, boring, redundant, irrelevant topic and you don't rate that post here. In short, frick off.

Alright, I'll take a look. Maybe I've missed some Tiger Rant literary history.

No..... he's not stirring the pot. He's being impartial, something, sadly, most Tigers fans can't be. Even on occasion.

See, this is the thing. We're 3-0 and a lot of guys are happy with it. They compare stats and say they are happy with it. They get 9-10 wins and they are happy with it.
My opinion and the opinion of many is that unless you are playing (or working) to the best of your ability, which rarely ever happens, you can't be happy with your performance. Good enough is never good enough. With the talent we have we should be able to beat anyone on our schedule. Playing the way we are that won't happen. We can do better so I'm not happy until we do.
How in the hell do people that accept less then the best succeed at any thing. Even if you tried and failed, at least you didn't settle. Gad damn, that's the point.

Oh, and scoops one of my favorite posters. Has been for years. If you think he's not stirring your fricking pot, then you truly are a f'n ranter.

Aside from the questionable assumption that LSU's talent surpasses that of any other team in the league....honestly, who says that the Tigers can't beat anyone on the schedule this year? The season is young and the team is not yet mature-- obvious to see.
I imagine the players and coaches believe they can beat anyone on the schedule.
But you don't seem to believe this is possible. Why not?

I like his posts as well. I just don't see it as "stirring the pot." To me, that means more like some fan from another fan base coming here and starting up crap. I have yet to see him do that. That's what I meant.

Les has lost games to teams with less talent. He was outcoached in those games. Has he ever beat a team that was more talented?
Posted on 9/21/10 at 10:17 pm to INFIDEL
That was my take from what I'd seen. The threads end up being way more conversational in tone.
