When we blocked that Bama FG, Tiger Stadium was deafening. Unbelievable. Words cannot desribe that moment. Even though we went on to lose the game, that is a moment I will never forget.

I was not born yet, but how can a loss to USC in '79 be one of the greatest??? I mean, I guess I am missing something, but to me, saying this is like me saying that Bama '08 (they were ranked #1 and we barely lost) was one of my favorite games ever. Not saying USC game wasn't one of the best, just a little confused as to why this game was so special.

How good was the 87 tOSU/LSU game in BR?(I was less than a year old, so I have no recollection of this game)

I would suggest just doing a little research on the game...on this website and otherwise.

Usc was #1 and had ALL-AMERICANS all over that team. LSU played there hearts out and the place was deafening!!! If there was EVER a MORAL victory that was it!!! The crowd even stayed after the game to give the TIGERS a well deserved STANDING ovation for the effort they gave.

Really? What happened?
FWIW, he was fired at the end of that season if it helps any.

I remember that one. Earl Bruce refused to come out of the tunnel first. I remember Musberger saying this was a Civil War, North vs South. We should have won that game and the one in Columbus the following year. Still one of the most painful losses ever.

All-Americans? shite, there were 2 maybe 3 future NFL Hall of Famers on that team.

The fact that the 79 USC was a loss and yet with all threads like this, this game ranks in the top lists, says how good that game really was.

Here's mine:
1. UF 2007
2. Ole Miss 1959
3. USC 1979
4. UF 1997
5. Georgia 2003

The USC game was loud from beginning to end - most games have moments that are loud but not the entire game. Also the student section probably had 22,000 plus in a section that holds 15,000 or so - the fire code was more strictly enforced starting the next year

Well they should have covered Fuller better!!!!
We ran the same play from opposite sides and they could not cover Eddie Fuller. = Defeat

Closer to ten Hall Of Fame members, I think...
Pretty sure over 30 people on that USC team spent time in the NFL...their offensive line was larger than the Saints.
I have a tough time thinking of another team that's played in Tiger Stadium with that kind of talent.
Their backfield alone had that year's Heisman winner (Charles White) and the future Heisman winner in it (Marcus Allen).
