Maybe Bama isnt a rival if rivalry must be mutual. But Bama tops the list as far as teams I hate. I never like Bama, but my animosity kicked into full gear in 1998. smh

Not many cfb teams have this many rivalry teams
Bama
Florida
Auburn
Old Miss
Georgia
Texas A&M
Arkansas
This what LSU football must understand every game is a rivalry game. These teams want to beat mighty LSU..

Bama. Enough said. When Saban leaves, they'll take a step back, but they'll always be a thorn in our side
Auburn in 2nd place for now.
Florida flip flops with AU for second place historically, depending on who's up or down.
Ole Miss. Overachieving while Freese is there. He'll leave or have them on probation.
Arky. Bilema will make them better given enough time. But the demographics of the state means they're sailing into a perpetual headwind which keeps them from being an upper echelon team more than once in a blue moon.

Always in the order of most recent success of the other team.

LSU's true rival in the SEC is Ole Miss. There are more important games each year but importance doesn't necessarily translate to rivalry.
I doubt if Bama and Auburn consider LSU a true rival in the same sense they view each other.

Whoever is ranked highest is the biggest "rival". It's cyclical. Right now that is Bama but I'm sure that will change over time and will definitely change once Saban is gone.

The only reason LSU fans dislike bama is because they have been better than us recently. That's not reason enough to be a rival.
I think A&M should be our biggest rival.

1. Ole Miss (History). Records don't matter in this one (this year), typically going to be a close game.
2. Bama and Auburn-Depends which one stands in the way of LSU winning the west
3. Arky- Never have liked them.
4. I say a friendly healthy rivalry- Not much hate, just 2 fan bases like to have a good time.(my opinion)

quote:I think Ole Miss is the closest thing LSU has to a year in/year out rival team. But I think there is another category we might want to name "Nemesis" and in this one, add Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, UGA and maybe aTm. The Nemesis teams are teams we love to hate and love to beat. But our nemesis teams aren't necessarily given the title of "rival" except Ole Miss which can be both rival and nemesis at the same time.

I know some of these these aren't rivals but... these are teams I wish LSU could play and dominate every year:
1. USC- Trojans
2. Auburn
3. Notre Dame
4. Florida
5. Bama
Honorable mention- Ohio St.

Rank LSU's rivals
In the early 60s, when I was a student, the rivals were Ole Miss and Tulane. Things got out of hand on campus during Ole Miss week.
Tulane was beaten every year like a baby seal.
In the years since, Tulane went away, the Ole Miss rivalry has diminished some and the UAT rivalry has grown and surpassed OM.
I suspect A&M will surpass both in years to come especially when Nicky leaves UAT.

I'd rank things in terms of teams we'd love to beat the most and teams we hate to lose to the most.
Teams we love beating the most:
1) Alabama
2) Auburn
3) Texas A&M
Teams we hate losing to the most:
1) Ole Miss
2) Arkansas
3) Alabama
Teams other than LSU that I love:
1) Mississippi State

5. A&M (only this high because they're currently relevant)/Arkansas (only this high because we've lost to them so many times)/Tulane (would be #1 if they didn't suck and Saban wasn't at Alabama, seriously, f*&k these guys)
4. Ole Miss (They'll rise if they become more relevant
3. Auburn
2. Florida
1. Bama (but only as long as Saban is there. They'll drop several spots when he leaves)
4. Ole Miss (They'll rise if they become more relevant

I live among Ole Miss fans and there is no school in the SEC they despise more than LSU. Even their need to beat MSU is secondary to their hatred of all things purple and gold.
Ole Miss is our rival. Bama and Auburn will never consider LSU a rival as long as they have each other to hate on. The forced rivalry with Arkansas never caught on and A&M is still too new to the conference to call them a rival.
No one in the east is a rival. Florida has Georgia and LSU is nothing more than a big game to them.
Its Ole Miss and what's so great about having a rivalry with the Webels is that they're so easy to hate.
