For most country folk, the noon meal was the big meal of the day, hence dinner. The farmers would come in from working in the field or maybe the womenfolk would bring the food out to where they were working.

We were kinda of country though.
My nephew teaches HS English and they are requiring all assignments to be handwritten. Doesn't eliminate the risk of AI completely but at least they have to put some physical effort into it.
Too late. The basin bridge is already closed.

Iran didn't help, but the economy sunk Carter, like it does most one term presidents.

Actor Kiefer Sutherland, a film and television star since the 1980s, was arrested Monday after he was alleged to have physically assaulted and threatened a ride-share driver, police said.

Sutherland, 59, was arrested at Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Hollywood after officers responded to a report of an assault around 12:15 a.m., Los Angeles Police Officer Kevin Terzes said by email Tuesday.

“The investigation determined that the suspect, later identified as Kiefer Sutherland, entered a rideshare vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats toward the victim,” Terzes said.

Sutherland’s representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment Tuesday night.

Terzes said the victim didn’t sustain any injuries that required medical treatment at the scene and added that an investigation continued.

Sutherland was booked into jail a little after 4 a.m. on an unspecified felony charge, according to Los Angeles County jail records. He was assigned $50,000 bail and bonded out about seven hours later, the records show. He was scheduled to appear in court Feb. 2.

My nephew has a mild autism diagnosis. He didn't say a word until he was four years old, then started talking in complete sentences. He was obsessed with maps and numbers. He had a photographic recall of sports statistics. He was sociable enough that he was able to make some friends in school, played sports, and graduated HS as co-valedictorian. When he got to college he imploded. Had tremendous difficulty working independently, budgeting his time, etc. He sat out a year and a half before going back and is doing better this time around, He's on track to graduate this year but I don't know what he's going to do for work. He's a really nice kid and people like him, so he has that going for him. I hope it's enough to smooth over any rough spots he might have.
4WD is a waste of money until you need it. During the big winter storm of a couple of years ago I was able to get out and move around instead of being marooned for a week.
The day I can't live independently is the day I pull the plug. I've seen what it's like and I don't want any part of it.

Hollywood is a predator's dream. Unaccountable, powerful men lording over young, naive people and their parents, who will do almost ANYTHING for fame and money.

One of the first big Hollywood scandals was the murder of director William Desmond Taylor in 1922 by person or persons unknown. Still unsolved to this day, but suspicion falls on Charlotte Shelby, the mother of 15 year old actress Mary Miles Minter, with whom Taylor was having an affair, or by modern definition, was abusing. BTW, Mary Miles Minter was born in Shreveport.

Nothing says not guilty like going on the lam.

Why doesn't he put Clark in?

Just getting the tropes ready for next season.
He's been in a shite ton of well regarded movies, including Diner, Breaking Away and Hannah and her Sisters. Kind of sad he's best known for Home Alone, but that's the way it goes.

Wikipedia says he's been married to the same woman since 1980, which makes him a unicorn in Hollywood.

What if I go to Waffle House and eat breakfast at Noon?
