I wonder why?
Just a qualifying statement.

I'm just giving my two cents on the location of the tournament. Not everyone is going to be please by a move.
It's just funny how many times Gumpabama has won the tournament IN HOOVER. That's my thing. It could be coincidence, dunno. It's just something that makes you geaux "hmmmmmm...". It is truly a "home field", something I don't agree with.
If the tourney moves to the ATL, I doubt that UGAly would have that much of an advantage, seeing as how they rarely do shite consistently in baseball. One good year, 3 bad years.
Memfart would be a great ballpark, but not sure about parking and RV abilities. Jacksonville is ACC territory and not sure that ballpark is big enough to host our tourney.

Mermphis and Metarie would both be good locations for the tournament. Autozone is in the middle of downtown. It would be freaking nuts IMO.

But that's my point. While better venues, and more updated, the same issues would be there among the 11 teams not near the chosen park. Ole Miss and LSU, in those cases.

Metarie
See, there we geaux again. If Metairie hosts, then everyone is too close to the LSU campus, like all those Sugar Bowls and NC games from this past decade- home field advantage. If Nashville were to build a downtown ballpark, it would be too close to Vanderbilt's campus.
I dunno, it's just not easy to decide of these things, glad it's not my call. It just amazes me how the Gumps take over Hoover during tourney time. I guess it's a credit to their fans, but it is what it is I guess.

no kidding, it should just rotate like it does in basketball so everyone would have equal opportunity to have the venue close to their home field

THIS!!!! "ROTATE" the tournament between cities- that way there is not a home field advantage year in and year out. That's all I am saying. I don't think it should be one place all the time. I really wish the SECCG in FB would rotate around too, but who knows, that's another debate for another day.

If I remember correctly, it didn't move permanently to Hoover until 1998. Since its inception in 1977, it was held on SEC campuses, as well as Columbus, Ga., in 1997, and Hoover in 1990 and 1996.

exactly, and they should do something similar still except having it at bigger venues to accommodate more fans. there's plenty of good minor league parks in the SE to do this.

Sounds about right on- I have NOTHING against Hoover at all, because they put on the complete first class tourney (minus the traffic, which is also a major problem all over the Ham), but I would like to see it rotate around. There are some newer ballparks out there that could bring in some nice $$$ for the SEC, moreso than Hoover could do.

No doubt Hoover does a 1st rate job with the tourney. Kudo's to the bunch that puts this together. The facilites are very nice and great for RVers. We haven't noticed traffic problems all week except for when Bammers and Barners dry humped each other for Game 1.

In this particular case, it's the same, so a coin toss was done to determine home team & Bama won that.
