It's a combo of factors including race and the fact that it's women doing it. For whatever reason, there's a lot of people that hold women competitors to a different standard than men when it comes to how they act while playing. You want to see emotion and players that care, yet you expect the women to hold that emotion in at all times. Throw that in with a black girl doing it to a white girl and you have all the pearl clutching you see right now.

Regardless, the fact that so many people are talking about WBB is a positive for the sport itself. All of this "drama" is going to help them get their own TV deal.

All BS. No one is asking girls to not have emotion. We're asking that they not go over the top. And it's the exact same thing we ask of the men. When Wade had a team full of loud mouths, who didn't know when to put a lid on it and stop taking technicals, there was a split among the fanbase with those who hated it, and those who thought it was cool. And that is exactly what you see here. A lot of us don't like it, but some will defend it to the death.

It has nothing to do with race, or women. It's a behavioral issue, and some of us were raised better than to glorify people who insist on making a spectacle of themselves. There are tons of ways to have fun, without disrespecting others. And I don't want to hear "but so and so did it, too!". Everyone who does it needs to chill out. Someone needs to be the bigger person and let their game do the talking.

people didn't talk crap about Matt Flynn and wanting Ryan Perrilloux to start, the year he lead LSU to a national title?

The starter always sucks and the backup is always the fan favorite.

At what point though do you just let it go because LSU won a National Title? Just curious.

I say this because so many people want to completely bypass that major fact and nitpick the way Reese acted and focus exclusively on that and that alone.

Well clearly you haven't read my posts celebrating the team winning the championship, because your focus is on "nitpicking" on the things I say that you don't like.

This thread is about her antics, and I have chosen to participate, same as you.

See, that's your problem, though. You think all black people are the same, and therefore believe that respect is just a white person thing, and claim that I want everyone to act white. Who is the bigot here, exactly? Because I didn't see a single one of Angel's many black teammates go directly to a player to taunt her in her face as the clock was expiring.

I don't mention her looks, her speech, what she wears, what she listens to, or anything to do with her culture. I had a problem with this singular action, which no one else out there was doing.

So spare me your race baiting.

I never suggested she didn't, or that it wasn't. Two things can be true at once. I love Angel, overall. I would tell my own daughter the things I've said here. I don't believe in justifying certain behavior because a person wants to behave that way, and not telling people the truth is not loving them.

I got criticized growing up when I made mistakes. I learned from it. Telling people it's ok to perpetuate immature behavior, because of "the times have changed" is the biggest cop out that I hear today. Times have only changed because people have made excuses for these things, for the sake of not offending anyone. I'm not about that culture, and it's black and white people doing it, so I don't want to hear any nonsense about not accepting black culture. Not every black person acts the same way. It's truly bigotry to suggest that they do (not that you said that, just some people).

She just did let her game do the talking. She had 34 double-doubles and is now being measured for a ring.

Really? So the fact that she stares down someone after nearly every "and 1", constantly gestures things and waves for the crowd acknowledge her, is always talking smack and often getting in people's faces, makes her nothing like them?

You legit can’t like Burrow if these are your issues with Reese

Our baseball players brought out boomboxes last year and do the arms crossed stance at home plate after every homer this year

I don't think you understand what it means when someone says "let your game do the talking". It means let your game do the talking...

That means you play well, and you let that be your statement. She did not leave it at that. When you have to talk, and taunt, to make a point, it makes you look very insecure. Indeed, her statements that made this somehow about race showed a lot of insecurity, when faced with criticism instead of constant praise. There is no better way to make a statement than to go out and dominate, and act like you don't even see or hear what the other team is doing. People who get under your skin, want you to react to them. So don't.

Dude.... These comparisons are absurd, man. How many times did Burrow just stand there staring at people? How many times did he gesture directly at a player? Burrow had bravado. It's not my style. I wouldn't do that, and I could do entirely without any of these players acting that way, but I can deal with that. I've seen a lot of things from Reese that were cocky, but not over the top. But all the technicals she drew for going directly at someone, was ridiculous. Now this incident.

Meanwhile, the baseball team crossing their arms is about the tamest celebration going in sports at the moment. I think it's really nonsensical, and I get nothing out of it, but it's not directed at anyone, and every team has some goofy home run routine.

You expect the world to act as if we're on the golf course. The reality is that when you get a group of guys/girls/people together competing, then you're gonna get some jawing back and forth, some taunting, some picking, etc. ESPECIALLY if you have somebody good like Clark who starts it by being cocky and flaunting it. Those are the best kind to throw it back in their face. Which is exactly what Reese did.

This is at any level. And really to be honest with you, we do that with each other on the golf course as well.
