What pisses me off is that they say this bullshite about the controversial call giving us the field position, and the "replay" of what Green did is chopped up.

They went from catch, *clip*, celebrating with team, *clip* other teammates on the field celebrating, *clip*, Green celebrating with team again while a ref is trying to get them to stop.

From what i remember, he caught it, celebrated by himself/with the nearest person. THEN ran to other teammates and started jumping around with this. I thought this is when the flag was thrown.

If you're going to make the point of your commentary on the game that UGA got screwed by this call, then show the whole fricking thing and not chop it up.

They did make some fair points, and Reece made a good point, change the rule to taunting, problem somewhat solved.

But the point is this, this game was called crappy on both sides; crappy ball placements for both teams, no calls when there should have been and throwing the flag for things they shouldn't. SEC officiating is some of the worst in the country, easily.

Not our fault we covered our kick better. Same penalty, hurt both teams equally, we covered the kick better so we weren't hurt by it... stupid argument by ESPN

No one's ignoring it. The difference is in interpreting the impact it had on the game. A 40 yard kick return + a 5 yard illegal formation penalty takes precedence over a subjective 15 yard penalty. Georgia got the same call and the difference was in our kick coverage and subsequent defensive lockdown. I'm not sure that anyone's disputing the idiocy of the actual penalties.

Exactly, Reese is good, but he purposely didn't want to mention the 40 yard kickoff return...he just said that the penalties resulting in LSU getting the ball on the GA 38 yd line. Georgia's fault for not limiting our return.

The comments were directed toward the policy on excessive celebration calls. I agree that the policy is dumb and ought to be changed. The call did affect the game, no doubt about it. That doesn't mean that LSU would necessarily have lost, but who knows?

It doesn't mean that the refs didn't make other mistakes in the game, including the fumble that seemingly wasn't reviewed when Shepard was down before the ball came out and the failure to review cost us some yardage. Who knows how that affected the outcome?

The mistake is to focus only on one single call as if there might not have been other calls by the refs that might have been wrong and might have affected the game's outcome. But it is easy to focus on something like a celebration call because it was clearly a dumb call (every time it was made in the game).

Yes, it was a bullshite call. They all were.

But UGA can't bitch to us about "home field" advantage.

Every little thing that happens on the field "affects the game," but in the big picture, the penalty against Georgia didn't. They got the same beneficial call, LSU played the situation much, much better. So it "affected the game" only in that it exposed Georgia as the inferior team. But that's what game situations do.
