Good luck to the kid. I think his best bet to stay in the NFL is to put on some more weight and become a solid FB for some team.

Given how weak the crop of backs is this year, it'd make more sense to go this year.

Next year you'll have James, Richardson, Lewis, LeShoure (if he stays), and Vereen.

Either way, Ridley will get drafted as long as he is healthy.

I just think most teams will start leaning to not drafting RBs early anymore given the success of most teams with late round picks and UFAs.

His dancing and bouncing outside wasn't normal for him, not sure if he thought he had a speed advantage or saw something that wasn't there

Either way, 1 game where he wasn't his normal self and still went over 100 yards

LSU will be fine.

Ridley has a ton of skill. People also forget he's a 4th year JR. He's already been at LSU for 4 years.

Look at Scott, had he gone after 2008, he'd have gotten drafted higher, albeit maybe a round or two at most. That is still something, and you never know when an injury may happen.

Whatever Ridley decides, we should all wish him best of luck. Kid has been a great representative for LSU and a great player.

He's danced all year like that, he can just get away with it against some teams,

He never got it going against the respectable defenses we played.

to each his own. I hate to sound like i am bashing him. Im not. I am just not sure what everyone sees.

I wish Ridley would come back but after seeing Ford and Ware this season, I do not think he will be missed.

come on .. no back in the NFL makes an exclusive, long term living running between the tackles .. you HAVE to have a bounce outside game too .. he gets run down by D1 interior linemen outside .. also .. his 10 to 15 yard inside pops never happen in the NFL .. too much strength and speed inside upgrade at that level .. come on .. if Charles Scott couldn't make it .......

Most RBs in the league don't have a lifespan more than about 5-7 years anyway. He was the leading rusher in the SEC for a long time (obviously because of Bama's stable). Being able to put up over 1,000 yards with a terrible OC, no passing game to take the pressure off, and an OL that struggled with injuries is impressive, especially in the SEC. I could see him sneaking into the 3rd round for sure.

he's not an NFL back ..

Like, Chris Ivory and Pierre Thomas weren't NFL backs, huh? If you watch much of the league then you should know there are a lot of backs drawing NFL paychecks who can't "bounce to the outside". That sh*t is so over rated. Guys who can run touch, hit the gaps on the fly and cut back on a dime like Ridley tend to make a very nice living in the NFL.

BEfore that run he was at 3.6 YPC

so you are just going to take out a big run from him to bring down his average? Regardless, aTm's front 7 is built for guys like Ridley.

and I would say aTm was dead due in large part to him wearing them down.

lol. I hate when people say shite like this.

Spencer Ware had no trouble with that defense all night.

That's just not accurate. Many backs in the NFL run over a 4.5 and cannot bounce outside effectively. Almost every team has guys who are strictly pounders. Chris Ivory and Pierre Thomas are perfect examples of guys who run almost exclusively between the tackles and make quite the good living at it. As for Chuck the Truck, he is still drawing an NFL check.

If he does go best of luck to him, he was an absolute BLAST to watch this year. Best RB we've had since Hester.

If he stays I'll be all the more happier. WIth our O line returning and RIdley, Ware, Ford and all our other guys we could have the best running game in the league.

okay, you realized he ran for 4.6 YPC for the season with Gary Crowton calling the plays, right?

Good luck to him if he leaves. I think he'll get drafted in the later rounds and stick with a team. He may not be a starter but he can absolutely find a place on a team as a short yardage back.

Teh NFL is becomign a two back league, and one of those two back usually is a between the tackel bruiser. Similar backs i am thinking of
Jammal Lewis, Deuce, Turner Tolbert in San Diego, Payton Hillis doesn't have elite speed either.

You underestimate how good a combination size, power, vision, and just enough shiftiness can be

Thomas and Ivory pop/popped it outside plenty .. Thomas scored a TD in the super bowl on a screen from the edge ..

maybe not, but his average is down because he gets all the short yardage carries. And even though he had a ton of production, I think his value is above even that. I don't think Ware gets his yards without Ridley pounding away before that. Ware had HUGE holes to run through a couple of times.

Regardless, I agree that Ridley is no 2nd rounder and likely won't ever be a full time starter, but there is absolutely a place for him in the NFL.
