FWIW, because you actually know an athlete on a social level does NOT make you one of them.

well i actually live with one, and i doubt that any player who went out on thursday had any trouble in the game saturday. The nutrition aspect of these athletes is controlled from friday morning through postgame. If anyone of the players was hungover, the training staff would have easily taken care of it. A lot of the players go out and don't even drink, and this year is no different than any other year. College students are going to go out and have fun. If you honestly think drinking had any impact on this game, you are retarded.

When they get home after the game, it is a completely different story. One player constantly goes out, and he's performed at an elite level his whole career at LSU.

nickie turned the bama players a little "too loose" in n.o. last year... and it hurt..

right .. reggies has nothing on that...

but kemosabe... you have to realize how it works..

out at bar till 2.. doesn't mean home and asleep by 2;30.......

i know the players who go out, it shouldn't have any impact on their performance. Its 2 days before the game

Wrong....waiting until the day before or the day of to decide to hydrate sets you up for disaster.you are supposed to hydrate well in advance of 2 days before a competition.

Are you talking about Condon's show yesterday as your source?

Either way, it would be dissapointing if something so controlable played a factor in the game.

Hypothetically, you're full of shite if you say drinking on a Thursday night would not have an affect on performance on Sat afternoon, espescially at such high intensity.

We need to insert at least a 72 hour bottle to throttle rule!

Total hydration for activity at this level cannot be accomplished 36 hours sober, much less after a bender, if that is indeed what happened.

Not calling names or whether it was right or wrong - just commenting on the hydration issue.

I don't blame you, for several reasons. Yes, Condon did say this but I only heard a bit. He was on the end of a rant where he talked about how PP was at Reggie's with a number of other players and how it was inexcuseable and then it went to commerical.

doctors also have determined that sexual activity within 24 hours of a strenuous athletic contest hinders athletic performance. what's the rule book say on that?

This

Just because you see a player out at the bar does not mean he is planning on binging all night. Plus I highly doubt a few drinks has that large of an effect on hydration. Especially considering most of them piss so often (from hydrating all week) it barely stays in their system.

I haven't heard Condon in years and it was at the YMCA tlaking smack with a buddy. I have never listened to his show.

Guys, drinking is one issue. Secondly, with gloryhounds tanked on Thursday nights, mingling with them prior to the Bama game is irresponsible.

I, honestly, can't believe some of you even think for a second that consuming alcohol on a thursday night/FRIDAY MORNING before a pivotal SEC clash is ok.........kinda like the fat person drinking Diet Coke with a Deep Dish, "I just don't know why I'm so fat."

You're right we never got paid and they still don't. I believe 100% they should get something similar to a Pell Grant for spending cash considering what they contribute. My roommate/teammate couldn't even afford clothes.

And, when you sign that letter of intent, you have an obligation to conduct yourself in a manner that does NOT compromise the success of the team. Yes, they deserve some pay, but they are getting a free-education complete with godlike status and MacDaddy off season employment. They have the duty to recognize restraint.

no one of consequence.........I have felt the warmth of the uniform, yet left no lasting mark. What I do have is personal regret, scars, and an intense love for that program.

This is a fantastic thread. Irrelevant, but still fantastic.

It's funny how these things surface after a loss. Highly suspicious.

For the unanatomically schooled posters, please explain the effects of drinking 3 nights before a game are.
