IMHO if RShepard is not going to be on the field for over 60% of offensive plays he should be redshirted.

But he is not facing anything other than vanilla defense.

Fixed.

Still doesn't change the fact that when all the defense had to do was touch him to stop him, they couldn't lay a finger on him.

Miles has no choice at this point. RS is too much of a gamechanger to not play this year. Especially for a coach coming off an 8-5 season.

I am meaning from a QB standing, I think if thats position he wants to play and will play it makes sense to redshirt.

If he is gonna be Harvin type then he will never fairly get a shot at a true QB.

This is incorrect. He was not wearing a "no contact" jersey in the spring game. Although the refs did blow a call and ruled him down on a play where he was only touched. They ended up negating the sack and replayed the down.

You don't redshirt a kid who gets fans off your back about last years debacle. We love Russell Shepard b/c he's ours and not Texas, or Floridas. He was told he would play at LSU and Les is an honest man if nothing else. If he didn't play people will howl and moan after each loss..we coulda won if Shep was playing. Enjoy the show..he'll get there sooner than you think.

I wasn't talking about the spring game, but all the scrimmages before it, and you went where I was going with my next point.

I think it's a safe bet that LSU will be a dual QB team for the foreseeable future. It just remains to be seen which QB is considered the starter, and which one the relief.

It's not up for debate tough guy. He was told before he committed he will not redshirt. So why waste energy talking about it?

He was in the Spring Game. And that was with only spring practice under his belt. Once he gets 2-a-days and the fall practices under his belt, one could argue that he will only solidify being #2.

He was not promised anything else.

Did Shepard or Miles tell you this personally? If not, then there is no way to know what he was promised.

I love the fact that regardless of who is in the game, they are going to be in a position to succeed. Competition will only make all of our QBs better.

while i agree with you, he has has been fair game in practice (allowed to get hit) which I think will help him in the long run

i'll just say, miles has to be thinking of last year's qb struggles. he may not redshirt RS thinking he could actually overtake JJ later on this year. he could work RS into some game action during the year letting RS get up to game speed and then let RS go if JJ struggles and JL can't compete at a high level.
