Gaston, you probably ought to just let this one go. I, like most of the other rantards, will never understand why an LSU fan (even one that went to school and attended every game for 8 years) couldn't be excited about USC losing. Unlike alot of other rantards, I'm not a USC penis envy boy. But that said, it's painfully obvious that EVERY school, including LSU, benefits in terms of the national championship by USC losing. While I understand part of your point (LSU does in fact have to take care of business, etc), doing so doesn't guarantee them a fair shot at the title (see Auburn 2003). ALOT has to happen to win an NC. This year, one of those things happened to be USC losing. That, my friend, is a good thing for LSU. Without that, USC was guaranteed one of two spots in the NC game. The fact that they've now lost opens some new doors, whether you believe that or not. We're sorry if you can't see that.

Doesn't change our season, but excites me because I hate them so much. The media kisses their arse, so it is awesome when they get spanked by some team every year that keeps them out of the Championship game.

I know you like to act like the USC loss has no effect on LSU, but I does! Every win or loss has an effect on every other teamm regardless what conference it's in. The fact that it's a #1 team means even more.
Honestly, I hope every team in the top 25 (excluding LSU) lose every week. This makes it easier for us to reach the BCSNC, and leaves us more room for error.

Poll voters can do whatever they want, and they don't have to take strength of schedule into consideration. Only in the computers will SOS matter much, and that's only 1/3rd of the formula. Poll voters have much more influence, and they have a history of overlooking USC's schedule strength when deciding where to rank them. A loss later in the season by the eventual SEC champion could drop it behind USC in the BCS standings.
