Would any of those teams beat 2011 Alabama twice?

1. 2011
2. 2003
3. 2006
4. 2007
5. 1987 or 88 (the one that beat South Carolina in the Gator Bowl)

Best players from 2003 and 2007 combined don't beat them.

lol

2011 wouldn't be able to move the ball against 2003 defense and would have trouble against 2007 defense. They would rip apart a 1 dimensional Les Miles offense. And both 2003 and 2007 had better offenses.

the 69/70 Tigers are one of the greatest with Cassanova/Estay/Bert Jones/Hamilton/Anderson/Bevan and the entire defense...for the day they could handle anybody; except Archie. Cholly Mac to conservative to win the close ones...anyway, 2003, I feel, with that defense could have handled 2011 Bama twice, no sweat!! Just my opinion, I could be wrong...

Had the 2005 team not been surrounded by hurricane Katrina aftermath I think they would've been very, very special. We absolutely housed a Miami team that was in the natty conversation all year.

2011 was our best, imo.

The 2011 team was fun to watch and great in many ways, but that team had two major flaws.. No QB and the offensive scheme was idiotic. The 2003 team would have man handled the 2011 in trenches on both sides of the ball. Brockers and Logan would have held up, but after that our D line was smallish.

1969 team was awesome; so was 1959 team. 1986 team was good too.

They didn't have a qb, and it caught up with them.

Same here. I immediately thought "where's the 1969 team?" Given the size and athleticism of the players I doubt the 1969 team could stay on the same field as any of the teams listed in the 2000s but one could argue the same for the 1958 team. Same also for comparing the Packers or Colts teams of the 60s or 1972 Dolphins to any NFL team in the 2000s. The 1969 team was always considered one of the best LSU teams of all time (it also had Tommy Casanova, my favorite LSU player all-time).

The sad thing is Mett was on that 11 team but didn't have Cam and wasn't ready.

If only Mett had been the starter and at his potential then 2011 is easily the greatest. Mett carved up that Alabama D the following season even though that was a mediocre offensive year.

2011
With Mett at his potential dominates

So the greatest LSU team of all time couldn't get past the 50 until the 4th quarter in the NCG? The best ever, really?

Our best team ever got shut out with 92 total yards of offense? That's our best ever?

The 2003 team would have won the 2011 title game.

Clearly since they put 58 in there they are talking about relative strengths. Bad teams in the 90s would have beaten 58. I don't remotely get 2001 in the top 5. If the criteria is relative strength: 1908, several teams in the 1930's, 59, 61,69,70 should be considered. Several 80's teams kind of bridge the talent/modern FB gap and were damn good.

I think a couple of Dinardo's team could have beaten 2001. Not much defense on that team. 07 overcame many injuries to claim the NC and two Trip OT losses. 05 overcame a lot as well. 06 was an extremely talented team. 11 had the best D and STs I have seen. 03 was very good.

Hard to say really.

2006 team would have crushed the 2001 team. The 2005 team also showed how loaded it was when it didn't have to play 11 straight weeks during the Miami slaughter

shite, I think the 2012 LSU team in the month pre-crushing Bama loss would have spanked that 2001 team too. People quickly forget we beat South Carolina's best team ever and A&M's best team in a very long time. Basically a play away from beating national champion Alabama

I guess I can see where they're giving the three national title teams courtesy points.

No love for 1908?
