Tuck Fulane! They bring nothing to the party. A home and away with Texas A&M would be far more interesting.

it is a catch 22 for me i do like to see us have rent a wins from Louisiana to keep the money at home.... but how many do we really need? 3 rent a wins from Louisiana seems excessive - but if they aren't going to replace them with BCS conference opponent i would rather keep the money at home than give Middle Tenn money to come lose

Both Teaxs A&M and Texas have been approached on a number of occasions for a home and home. Neither team wants that series for the advantage it gives LSU in recruiting.

LSU vs Texas A&M is never going to happen give it up.

As far as the Tulane series while it is not ideal, if done correctly it could be used to stop us from ever having to play a D1AA school again.

I understand this argeement causes problems making home and home series with big name schools b/c LSU wants 8 home games every other year. But to walk away from this agreement is no better than a small D1 school breaking an agreement with us at the last minute (ie Marshall a few years back) thus leaving us to play a D1AA school.

Yes, and we should also quit playing every in state team unless they at least guarantee the sell of their ticket allotment in exchange for their rent-a-win check. I don't think Tulane, ULL, ULM, or LaTech have yet to sell a measly 6,500 seats in Tiger Stadium and it's ridiculous, especially for Tulane and ULL considering their close proximity. If we're going to schedule any of them, I'd just soon schedule Southern University. As for the game, I think playing Southern University would truly be absurd. I'd rather watch an intramural flag game. But it would at least be fun having their fans and band in Tiger Stadium and I bet they'd sell their ticket allotment.

ULL whined for years and even tried to get the state legislature to mandate a game because LSU wouldn't schedule them. Then we finally schedule them and ULL returns tickets to LSU because they can't sell them. Of course, Tulane can't even sell 6,500 seats for a home game in the dome much less sell 6,500 seats in Tiger Stadium. And as far as helping them meet their attendance numbers to remain Div-1, that's one of the problems with Div-1. The NCAA needs to strictly enforce the rules regarding what a program needs to do to be D-1, then appropriately kick the wannabees who are just calling themselve D-1 in order to get a bigger check down. And for you fans of a playoff, slimming down the number of D-1 teams would probably go a long way to opening that door.

The loss of these ticket sales costs LSU money. Most other Lower Tier more geographically distant teams would not be able to sell their ticket allotment either, but the fans they bring would at least be much more beneficial to the local economy. Arkansas State, North Texas, Troy St fans would at least spend a couple days and some bucks in our city.

I've yet to understand the logic in LSU playing these in-state teams. ULL, ULM, Tulane, and LaTech can go and get their rent-a-win checks from Texas, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Auburn, etc.. Unless these teams can help sell out Tiger Stadium on a consistent year in year out basis (not just in a single year when they think they might win), I see nothing but negatives in playing any of them.

Rivalry wise, we have all we need in Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn, and Florida. The last thing we need is a bitter in-state rival. I think one of the main reasons LSU football has managed to stay off of probation is that we don't have to recruit against a bitter in-state rival who'll constantly report us for anything and everything in order to get a recruiting edge.

What difference does it make? If Middle Tennessee State gets their rent-a-win check from LSU, and ULL gets their rent-a-win check from the University of Tennessee, the net amount of money kept in state is the same.

Yeah, I know some travel is involved, but for the poor ULL player busting his hump everyday in practice, the least the school can do is give him an all expense paid trip to Rocky Top.

Mule is an arse hole who has always been pro toolame, like all New Orleans sport writers. End the rivalry? It has not been a rivalry for many, many years. Stop giving toolame a chance to stick LSU fans with an extra "fee" so we can attend that trash game and see their sad team? YOU BETCHA. Death to this series, finally and forever. Let their green asses flourish on their own, without the only attendance and money they got all year - when they played LSU. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I don't see why ULL is bitching about wanting to play LSU, they didn't even want to play McNeese for the longest time, and when they did, McNeese made them their bitch in front of a sell-out crowd. The trust is, LSU does not like playing in-state schools at all, and will do anything to get out of it. I've been hearing talk that McNeese and LSU are working something out for the future, if that happens, of course, LSU is going to the shite out of them, but I think McNeese is one of the best teams in state apart from LSU, obviously, and I think McNeese will have little problem selling 6500 tickets.

I say we play one in-state team per year...go out and get more competive OC games to better our strength of schedule.

Time to pull the plug on the Greenies. LSU is on a different road; we can only make each other look bad by playing.

Honor the present contract but kill the series.

Tulane football started to die once Tulane dumped its stadium. The Superdome is no more a home field to Tulane than if LSU played in Shreveport vs Texas.

While it has the Super Bowl and Pro-Football prestige, the Dome is not conclusive to a college football atmosphere. Little room for tailgating, very little grass around the area, and definite concrete jungle feel. It does not help on ESPN to see a total lack of crowd in the Dome at the Tulane vs. Tulsa game. When they kicked the extra points, there was few in the stands behind the net.

Tulane needs a stadium closer to its campus to reconnect the student body to its team. It also needs a smaller stadium to play in.

i am a tech graduate them a rivalry that is laughable. they are at their top of the game right now and on their best night we beat them by 3 tds. i would rather bring in a byu or tcu very competitive teams we could probably beat 4 out of 5 times and would be exciting games for fans.

I say keep playing them. I'd rather LSU get their rent a wins from Tulane versus Utah State or Western Illinois or North Texas. Instead of home and home do a 3 for 1 or 4 for 1. It's getting harder for BCS schools to buy their rent a wins. A MAC school can get up to 1 million dollars now for going to Florida and Alabama and LSU. Tulane can be bought cheaper and travel to NO is cheaper.

You can scoff but don't be surprised to see more bigtime programs agree to 3 for 1 and 4 for 1 deals.

How about when you get a huge cut of the gate plus it's really a home game for Tiger fans in NO?

1 more thing. There is no reason to stop hating Tulane. They may not be a rival, but they still suck.
