I had the same thing at work with my LSU hardhat after the Florida game . I told him pretty much the same thing . I am a lot more likely to wear my colors after a loss than a victory . Hell 2/3 of my wardrobe is LSU related . I will be sporting said hardhat until it expires .

I'm the kind of fan who cheers for his team win or lose...you must be the other guy.

Question #1: What % of Tiger fans are bandwagon types?

I'll break it down further than anyone has done before:
Non-alum
18-21 years old: 75%
22-27 years old: 70%
27- death's door: 20%

Alumni
18-21 years old: 10%
22-27 years old: 5%
27- death's door: 1%

I'm not saying that if you didn't go to LSU or have a degree from there that you can't be a true fan. What I am saying is that if you find a fair-weather fan, chances are they didn't attend the university. Out of my group of friends that are die-hard LSU fans, 3 out of the 5 didn't get a degree there and 1 never even set foot in a classroom there. Every single one of us were on the edge of our seats, yelling at the TV, and drinking to drown the sorrow that was Friday's game.

Question #2: How can we ever get rid of them?

Never. The percentages change with winning or losing seasons, but they will always be back with another great year like they never left.

I agree, I was as disapointed as much as anyone but my LSU flag still flies on the front of my house...that might explain the recent abundance of eggs on the front of my house.

I would of told him to kiss my left nutt and walked off. There are so many of these "so called fans" most of whom never stepped foot on our campus to go to school there like you and I did.

I live in Dallas and some friends here have asked - When are you going to take down your LSU Flags? (I have a big flag and a garden flag out front) I told them the big flag would come down after the football season and the garden flag - well, never. I have 5 in the garage for when they fade. Of course - they went to either UT or OU so it's bandwagon for them.

I believe I would have told that asshat to find another band wagon to ride.

Too many of them running around. This is a weeding out year. I will wear my P&G no matter what ANY athletic team does. I am in grad school at another school and still ONLY wear P&G.

I spent $400 on new LSU gear yesterday. These people apparently weren't around for the 70s, 80s and especially 90s.

I had to admit, on an early Sat. morning run to Oak Point in Watson for coffee creamer and doughnuts, I had to think twice before putting on the LSU hat...added the P&G hoodie with LSU on the front and then went. The store was full of P&G (with long faces, of course). We just passed each other with a consoling nod. A game-day bud I hadn't seen since the Auburn game gave me a high five without a word. Best run to the store in a long while....makes me feel that overall, our fanhood has come a long way.

I will wear my LSU stuff here in Orlando win or lose. My son, who must have inherited a gene from my Dad (an LSU grad) through me, wears his 2007 National Championship to his high school (Timber Creek) here in Orlando.

We are disappointed at this year's performance, but not less LSU fans than we were before the 2003 NC. I have been a fan since 1954 or so when we lived in DeRidder and listened to the games on radio at my grandmother's house on South Division Street. LSU has always been my #1 team.

My wife (a Bama fan) is flabbergasted that I can actually pick up non-televised LSU games on WWL here in Orlando and still understand Jim Hawthorne through the static. Somehow, LSU fans have a tuning mechanism for LSU football and other sports...

My LSU flag flies every day from my Mississippi home. I may not always be enamoured with the coaches but I will never turn against LSU.

I can tell you right now that assclown didn't go to LSU nor graduate because he wouldn't have said that if he did.

+1

I feel very strongly about this...it makes my blood boil when people don't stand, remove their hat and at least observe a moment of silence for the Alma Mater...I also know several LSU grads that don't even know the first line...the pride one feels for the institution as a whole (not just the team) is multiplied by 1,000 if you actually earned your degree from LSU...they will never understand.

[quote]Beat the hell out of an old lady that saw my LSU cap the other day and gave me a SOOOOOUUUUUUEEEEEEEIIIIIIII PIG while pulling up her shirt only to discover to my horror that she was painted red and had a freakin hog painted across her fat torso and flattened sock boobs and the whole time she was 'calling the hogs' she was jiggling just perfectly so that her boobs made it look like the pig was galloping along to gash the stupid out of our defense and I just kinda flipped and throat chopped her and just took off running crying my eyes out.

a reasonable and prudent response...

That's an accomplishment. I have a hard time understanding JH when I can hear him clear-as-glass.

I have never attended LSU. I was born and raised in Bossier in 1970 (w/ p&g in my crib). Moved to Arizona in '95, I have to rely on mom and dad to get me merchandise every year. Unless you like Arizona, ASU, or USC you just can't walk into a store here and buy any LSU hats or shirts.

I have mixed emmotions about the bandwagon fans, if they are around our team is doing good, but most are still a$$clowns, without them our team isn't doing very well, and they are still a$$clowns.

My email fills with every loss as well as my phone text message box.

I still take great pride in my TIGERS win or lose. '09 will be a much better year if we get a DC.
