Saints kickers were shaky his entire tenure though Payton's lack of faith in them factored into that. Return game was awful when we didn't have a legendary returner like Sproles or Bush. We drafted a guy last year who does nothing but return kicks and somehow he never taught him how to hold on the ball.

I think Vince McMahon would be a better choice.

Volunteer analyst as a former STC for an NFL team for 10 years? I'll take it. Extra eyes and shadow staff of this capacity is solid.

Maybe he will be better in college, but he sucked with the Saints

To be fair, the Saints defensive talent has SUCKED for years and, except for the line, STs are mostly made up of defenders.

If a team has bad defenses, usually their STs suck

Die hard Saints fan here. Unless he was the guy signing all those awful kickers then it's unfair to say he sucks based on that

I'm a little lost here. How did we fire 4 coaches (cameron, peveto, craig, jaluke) hire 3 coaches (canada, robinson, joseph) and not have any available coaching spots?

ETA: My bad, I forgot about Johnson.

He was at least part of the decision to chose Zach Hocker over Dustin Hopkins. And again Marcus Murphy does nothing but return kicks and he can't teach him how to catch them.

if he survived as a ST coach in the NFL for 10 years he can't be as bad as y'all are portraying him

At least according to the website, Ensminger is holding an assistant coaching spot, and is still listed as OC/QB coach (with Canada ONLY listed as OC).

Probably just not updated, but they did update it to add Robinson and Joseph.

So, we have no TE coach (unless Ensminger counts) and we have no STC - if the 10th assistant is approved, then can I still hold out hope that Joe Rob comes home and coaches TE and STC?

That would leave Ensminger free as a dedicated QB coach - and basically assistant OC?

Would give us 3 player alumni on the staff and, under my hypo, 2 of whom coaching their playing positions.

He's very bad.

NFL inexplicably hires and rehires shitty coaching retreads.

shite, it was awful with Sproles.

Then he's the best returner in the NFL his first year with the Eagles.

Analysts and quality control coaches, like GAs, are not permitted to recruit. CEO probably has some big targets, but is taking his time behind the scenes and just wanted a ST coach on staff for spring ball coming up. We were wondering if he would build a shadow staff since it's becoming the new thing to do in CFB. Well, here is our answer. I don't know how I feel about Greg being on the staff and am relieved it's just in the role of analyst. Someone who can watch and scout film, to help the ST form a game plan of execution.

You have no idea.

His only saving grace was Morstead. His kickoff coverage was awful, his punt return was awful, etc.

I look forward to LSU taking it out 9 yards deep and getting stuffed inside the 20

Special Teams cost the Saints several games this year. As bad as our defense was, our special teams was worse
