Khamenei is (was) 88 years old and by many reports fighting cancer. Making him a martyr is incredibly stupid given how deeply unpopular the regime is with the Iranian people, so of course that’s exactly what we do.

The high command never thought very much of him, which is why he was stuck commanding Italians in the desert in the first place and why he was sitting in Greece while the life battles for the entire reich were taking place.

I will say he was very suited for being a focus of PR for the western allies

Dead ones. My parents were both long term alcoholics who died of alcohol related conditions. In way it’s better, they would have been horrible examples and I got to avoid having to cut them out of my children’s lives which I absolutely would have done with zero remorse.

My MIL lives far away and fell pretty far down the Q hole and rarely sees them either, given that she’s constantly getting scammed by nominally Christian online schemes targeting boomer conservative morons so she’s always broke and in crisis. Win/win really too.

At no point in my 50+ years of watching college football have I seen a Wisconsin team that was national title caliber.

They’re a good program. Genuinely consistent 10-15th ranked team. But I wouldn’t call them great, or feel like their empty trophy case is a fluke or an omission.
