And that's probably why LSU wanted the Miles exit clause in Chavis' contract. They want the flexibility not to get stuck paying off assistants in case Miles leaves or is shown the door. That's what happened to Tennessee.
I don't begrudge the assistants for trying, but LSU shouldn't cave. These coaches have produced declining results for three years. They don't deserve stability here. Maybe that's the problem, that the staff has been too comfortable.
All I know is that when your staff is the highest-paid in the country, your record should be better than 8-5, .500 in the SEC and fifth in a seven-team division.
I agree with all of your points but right now this is what is causing instability in the program with the Coaches and until LSU addresses it we could be left holding some empty bags very soon. Stability builds a team and right now we have coaches and players but no team.

I wish I had long term stability with my job. I'm in sales and if I don't produce I'm shown the door. High pay equals high risk and results!!!

god Id already gotten it in my head that he was gone. he came in with Chavis, I assumed he'd leave with him. Ill be depressed if he stays, he offers very little as a coach or recruiter

Status of Brick Haley?
Working on his run of second place finishes in recruiting d lineman.

LSU playing hardball with Brick Haley as he tried to take the A&M job but LSU is purportedly refusing to release him from the extension he just signed. LSU is refusing to grant the waiver but I suspect when its all said and done Haley is A&M bound as they will buy out his contract with LSU.
Hearing that a couple of other coaches maybe in the same boat.

Honestly don't know how LSU can keep Brick Haley now on staff as he wants out and LSU blocking him only going to make situation worse internally. LSU just needs to let him go to A&M and give it up before this spills over even more.

LSU needs to get paid if A&M wants Haley. I'd say $400k sounds about right.

No, he signed the extension. A&M can buy that fricker out.

Or LSU can keep a disgruntled coach on staff who will faux recruit for a year and coast for a pay check. More damage would be done to LSU keeping him than letting him go.

Then fire him right before fall camp if he's not working.

And let him recruit for A&M while he is on your staff? Plus all that does is add to even more turmoil in the lockroom and on the coaching staff. Cut the losses and move on.

I'd rather him go to A&M than coach O
