This off-season made Murphy look like an optimist. Literally unprecedented roster turnover plus Covid bs leading to abbreviated practices and opt-outs. O does have to own the Pelini hire though, I thought it was awful to bring back that dinosaur at the time and I haven't seen any reason to change my mind

Word is he doesn't spend much time in his office like last season and is caught up in a new relationship. I know it's to be expected now that he is a single man but i would have thought he would still focus more on football then what appears to have been.
I don't think it has anything to do with that. Simply speaking, Aranda, Brady and Burrow propped him up. If he's able to replace those coaches and get another stud QB eventually he could have 10 gold diggers and the team will be great again.

OP ignores the fact that O needs a competent staff to support him. He cannot do it on his own. And Pelini obviously will be unable to rise to the occasion. LSU had a fluke year this past year. If anything like it happens again, it will be due to O reaching out beyond his comfort zone.

I don't want to block you from jumping off of the bandwagon, but this is true of all coaches, dipshit.

Why aren’t we allowed to make judgments off of results and changing information? This idea that because one thing happened nothing else can be true is the attitude of mediocrity and failure. Nobody said last season wasn’t anything but incredible, even the best season ever, but that’s in the past and what’s important now is meeting the challenges post Burrow Brady and Aranda. Nobody’s saying fire him but to say he can’t be fairly criticized because of last year is silly. It’s also hypocritical since he couldn’t be judged on his past when he first got here to now say we have to judge him strictly on the past. Do you wanna end up in a Miles situation again where he lives off of one season for over a decade? You’d think we’d learn from that.

I figured a drop off like losing three games to bama, Florida and another team. Not playing three cupcakes and being 1-2 against the worst of the SEC

He's the head coach, if our roster sucks, it's his fault.

I agree in a general sense, but this year he has to get some level of a pass with the Jr's going pro, and opt outs we had.
But if we go 2-8, and dont show any signs of improvement on defense, and 0 ability to run the football, he absolutely is on the hot seat 2021 season, assuming covid isn't locking down life still, and we bring in a class of 24-25 and get the roster back to 75-80, versus 67-68 ish it is now. There's no roster excuses 2 yrs in a row, because jucos, and new flexible transfer rules allow you to fill gaps easier then ever.
Hes shown that ability, just seems like the team could care less 1/2 the time, or doesn't know how to play. Falls on him if it's a season of it I agree

Why? Wouldn’t a good coach be able to get his players to come back?

Anyone calling for O to be fired should just be ignored, but our rebuild years shouldn't include the worst start in 25 years while playing the easy part of our schedule. our opponents are 2-8 with their only wins coming against us.
