Good for your son
I volunteer at St. Christopher's occasionally so I probably have met him. It's always great hearing success stories. Hope he stays on the right path. God bless your family

Recovering addict from Atlanta here. I mostly lurk and very rarely post. But I had to mention how great it is to not only see the great recovery story for your son, which is just awesome and I pray for his continued success, but also the positive responses by others on the board.
My family members say the same thing about the community I am a part of, and I can't emphasize enough how important a solid network and community is for a recovering addict. Great to hear about one in Baton Rouge.
I am planning on coming to BR for the Auburn game, and I would love to check out the BR recovery community.

I'm really glad to hear your son is healthy and on the right track! I was born and raised in Baton Rouge and I truly wouldn't want to live anywhere else in this country. It's a beautiful town full of loving people. Not to mention LSU is the GOAT. I hope you and your family come down for the game this year and yall have an awesome time!!

Just sent a link to this thread to a friend of mine who is a counselor at STC. As someone who works in the addiction treatment field, I can tell you it is a very difficult and thankless job. He will be glad to hear your gratitude.

Are you trying to break some kind of upvote record?
Congrats to you and your family. Breaking an addiction is absolutely something to celebrate, and I'm proud Tiger Nation could play some part in that battle.

One thing i want to add:
One of the hardest things i ever did after getting sober was going to an lsu game. I was so worried and frightful after years of being "that drunk guy" i couldnt fit in.
I tell you what, the overwhelming love and understanding most lsu fans have is astounding. I couldnt believe if i said "no thanks i dont drink" would result in "well damn son eat some more of this here boudin".

2nd of the 12 Steps of AA states:
"Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity"
I am so happy for your son and your family...but you all must remember... in order for him keep it, he must give it away!
Godspeed to him and we shall be with him in the Fellowship of the Spirit, and he will surely meet some of us as he trudges the Road of Happy Destiny.
