The ball was off the rim and coming out towards the key which is set for tip in. Also Kentucky hit the rim and also had ARM through the hoop. That’s goaltending.

Goaltending should have been called on them making this all a mute point

Good basket. If there was any way they could have justified interference they would have.

God we have some morons in here

By rule it was basket interference on LSU and it isn’t even debatable.

It isn't even debatable?? Speaking of morons...

Basket interference occurs when a player:... Touches the ball while any part of it is within the cylinder that has the ring as its lower base;

So it should have been basket interference on Bigby Williams. Why do I keep seeing people say that's not a college basketball rule but an international rule? Is this rule that you quoted here from the international book, the NBA or the college book?

quote:

Basket interference occurs when a player:...Pulls down a movable ring so that it contacts the ball before the ring returns to its original position, and 5? Causes the basket or backboard to vibrate when the ball is on or within the basket or the backboard and/or is on or in the cylinder?

The Kentucky player with the hand though the basket didn't do either of these. Although he caused the basket or backboard to vibrate it wasn't while the ball was 'on or within the basket or the backboard and/or is on or in the cylinder'

According to the rule book if the official doesn’t believe the ball has a chance of scoring it’s not a goaltend, even if it’s in the cylinder

You WRONG! Learn the rules. It was off the rim and not over the cylinder!

So if it's off the rim, but 50% of ball is still above (in cylinder) it's goaltending?

I'm not a basketball guy, so please fill me in.

If it is, pretty that could be called 3/4 times a game in every game
if majority is still over cylinder then yes

Definitely wasnt on the rim...debatable whether it was in the cylinder
Glad we won. Cylinder? There’s no debate. About half the ball was inside the cylinder. We got a break…

None of those happened. Ball was not on the rim. Ball was not in the cylinder.

Well, this happened. The ball was about half within this cylinder.

If the Kentucky player doesn’t vibrate the rim the ball stays on the rim.

Is this called irony?

The refs reviewed it and both announcers called it good. Pretty sure it's at least "debatable".

And the Kentucky player had his hand in the net on the shot. Clearly goal tending. Go back and watch. Ref should have called that in addition to over the back when Naz was rebounding the Kentucky shoot. refs tried to give them Kentucky game.

It’s not reviewable. They were making sure the tip was before time expired
