Agree - one thing to talk fun smack about a game, but what you referenced was beyond bad taste.

Of course you probably realize that Mardi Gras originated in Mobile, AL.

Did Lent also come from Alabama?

Actually, Mardi Gras was first celebrated in Louisiana.

Of course, you probably realize that Mobile was originally part of the French Louisiana, before Alabama was even thought of.

If it soothes your feelings any I've said the same thing about the area of New Orleans I lived in when Katrina destroyed it.

Honestly? No, it doesn't soothe anything. I don't feel as though comments like that are warranted, regardless of whether you've said them about where you live.

Neither do the rest of us LSU fans. Guy is a POS. I RA'd and posted a thread on the Help Board asking for his post to be removed.

looks like both of his posts in this thread were deleted.

Just wanted you to know that LSU has good fans like you were describing. Good to hear a Bama fan that isn't a retard. Good luck to your team. I hope you lose 750-0.

I think the problem is that you're saying anything at all.

While YOU might think your comments are witty, intelligent, and original, they just make you look like an a-hole.

So, spread your message however you see fit, but do not do it on here. What happened in AL and LA cost people their lives, homes, friends, family, etc., so I/we will not give you a platform to thumb your nose at those people, those who know those people, or just people who feel for those people.

Just so you know I RA'd that comment.

It's one thing to make jokes but when those jokes involve a disaster that left thousands of people homeless, turned their whole lives upside down, and killed some of their friends, family, and loved ones then that's another. It's absurd and it's ridiculous.

I witnessed the devastation first hand because I live in Tuscaloosa and for someone to make a joke about it really pisses me the f*ck off.

I agree with your sentiment. At the risk of drawing moral equivalence, opposing fans invoke Katrina references all the time like they're going to "finish the job" that Katrina started and such. Not that Bama is necessarily the worst, but my memory is that Arkansas and Bama fans are big offenders of this.

We've had enough time and gotten used to it, so it doesn't sting as much. However, I agree that such talk has no place in a sports rivalry or on a message board such as this - regardless of the source, regardless of the target.
