I hate the Mannings. Why we would have an Ole Piss loser do anything at LSU?

Archie Manning is a great guy. He let his son's pick the school where they wanted to play for, not like some father's. Do you know every time when his two boys visited LSU they went on their own dime. Even on their Offical Visit Archie paid for it. The Mannings even had season tickets for LSU Football games. I forgot which boy said it, but he said it on an interview, where he grew up going to see LSU. Archie is a lot like Bobby Hebert, Bobby let T-Bob pick the school where he wanted to play at. I bet you one thing tho. no Head Coach tried to BS Bobby or Archie.

It's a shame how so many people down the Manning's for not attending LSU. I'm a die-hard LSU Fan, However, I do not down people for not attending the University. The Mannings have been outstanding citizens to the great state of Louisiana. Besides, the countless hours of community involvement that they volunteered rebuilding after Hurrican Katrina, they have also contributed a lot of funds to Louisiana as a whole. If you ask me, the Mannings have become a prime example of what it means to be a Louisiana native and they symbolize nothing, but class. It's not like they are people who are
from Louisiana such as Britney Spears who doesn't give back to their community. Thanks Mannings for all you do!

Played for the Saints, but also involved in numerous charity organizations. I wouldn't say he has done anything "great" for Louisiana, but I think the Mannings, Drew Brees, and Duece McCallister have done their part for the community of New Orleans. It seems Archie gets more grief for his sons not going to LSU then Billy Cannon and Nelson Stokley sons went elsewhere also.

I understand Archie going to OleMiss of course. I understand Peyton going to Tenn b/c of Booty and Curley. But Eli, he's just another snotty Newman kid from nola who wont consider LSU but will pay out of state tuition for MooState or OleMiss or some other state school. I understand going elsewhere if there is a good reason, such as academics, but dont give me this horseshite about him wanting to follow in his dad's footsteps from 40 years ago.

Of course it is his right to go where he wants, but it is my right to dog him for it.

I've read on this board some consider Terry Robiskie a sellout because his son played somewhere other than his old school (LSU). While some here will chastise Archie because his son chose to follow in his dad's footsteps. Maybe a little hypocrisy?

Peyton would have enrolled at Ole Miss to play with his brothr Cooper, but Cooper had to stop playing collegiate football because of a back injury...Archie and his family are good people...Why does Archie have to support LSU...He is an Ole Miss graduate...Also, how many of LSU QBs go to their passing camp...Get off of the Mannings

I didn't like seeing him decked out in full tOSU garb at the MNC. I hated it, in fact.

I work for a former teammate of Terry's at Edgard. He said blood's thicker than alumni.

Let it go, man. Focus on now. Peyton & Eli were free to go to any school they wanted to & frankly with LSU being so terrible at that time can you blame them for going somewhere else? Get over it.

NC another reason was that Archie had inside info that Ole Miss was going to go on probation because of Billy Brewer. Peyton picked Tennessee for two reasons. One UT did not have to play Ole Miss due to the rotating SEC schedule and UT ran a pro-style offense under Cutcliff. Those are the facts.

I have no issues with Archie & his son's choices of colleges. LSU's only Heisman Trophey winner, Billy Cannon, allowed his son to geaux to Texas A&M..and Billy has had his number retired & is in LSU's Hall of Fame. However, I lost all respect for Archie over what he did when Eli got drafted by the Chargers. It was like the rules applied for all the other draftees but not his son. He made an arse out of himself there. Eli, from all accounts, is the spoiled little brat of the brood, Cooper the family clown, Peyton...is just Peyton.

Did any of his kids even give LSU a visit? I know the whole Manning and Booty thing(I don't believe that Peyton would have given LSU the time of day regardless). I don't know, maybe should just let this go. I was just curious how other people feel about this.

I think it was always pretty much a done deal that both Mannings would go to where Cutcliffe was, although Ole Miss made a big effort to get Peyton. From what I remember back during their recruitment, both were recruited by LSU and were very respectful of and friendly to the LSU coaches who recruited them, but we were not strong contenders for their LOI signatures. I was surprised to read above that Peyton actually gave LSU an official visit. I wouldn't be surprised if both of them made unofficial visits just to hear the LSU coaches out.

I'll always hate that Archie ruined our perfect season in 1969, but he's done about the best job I've ever seen of redeeming himself from being practically the devil to Louisianians when he was in college to being pretty much a hero now. His sons have been good citizens of our state and of course very successful athletes, so it's hard not to like them regardless of where they played in college.
