Miles isn't going anywhere. If anyone wanted to start a meaningful thread, it would be "Who do you want as our next offensive coordinator?"

Norm Chow, Gus Malzhan, Tony Franklin, Mark Richt, Mike Sherman, Ralph Friedgen, Rich Rodriguez, Tom O'Brien, Bill Lynch or Clarence Shelmon?

Well dude, if all of these teams are looking for a good coach at the same time, it's highly unlikely that LSU will get the best one since a large part of the fan base seems satisfied with 8-4 and it won't be too hard to find a coach who could take this cupboard and the talent in La., East Tex. and Miss, to reach that mark
every year. Jimmy Sexton won;t have to work too hard with that one.

Out of those teams, I'd say Florida is the premier program and the rest are really about the same and have equal chances of attracting an elite coach. But I guarantee you that 1/2 of Alabama's fan base wouldn't be saying let's keep that guy who went 8-4 every year with top 5 talent. So the pressure on their AD might drive them a little more.

Dallas would hire Jason Garrett before they hire Nick Saban....

I have no problems with Nick, but how he handled himself at Miami I think would give any pro team pause bout taking him on.

I thought there was a coach in waiting at Dallas, but couldn't recall his name.

We will see, but I think Miles hangs here till at least 2011.

I must have missed something.

What LSU coach in our history went 8-4 every year or any year in the last 10???

If Jerry Jones cans Wade Phillips' arse in the offseason, you can bet he will go all out for Bill Cowher. Cowher loves the 3-4 defense and Dallas has the personnel required to run it.

Couldn't agree more. I don't see Miles going anywhere at this point, but Crowton honestly should have been axed after last season and I can't imagine he won't be gone following this year. I'm not a huge Miles fan by any means, but he's a decent man and a good recruiter.

If Chavis keeps his foot on the gas for 4 quarters we have a top tier defense. It seems to me if we had a decent offensive gameplan, we could just let Les keep doin his thing saying ridiculous quotes and recruiting good talent, and have the actual brains behind the program be with the coordinators.

You can forget two things about Saban:

Going Pro.

Leaving Bama.

Neither are going to happen.

You for another that won't happen. Become head coach at LSU again. Will not ever happen.

We would have to seriously implode to have a new coach next year. It's not happening, even at 8-4 I don't think it happens. With that said, the only competition for Muschamp would be UGA, and it would be interesting to see how much Texas would be willing to throw at him to continue the waiting game in Austin. Tubberville would kill for this job but I don't think that's a good route. I would rather take a chance with a Kirby Smart before going for Tubby, who I do find to be a good coach I just don't think it brings the right fit for Baton Rouge. Del Rio would certainly be a possibility.

He would pass.

You cant make grown arse men who make millions of dollars piss their pants at the sight of you. I honestly think he'll probably stay at Bama for a lonnnnng time. Done with the NFL.

its hard to believe we are even having conversations about this right now. We are 3-0, playing the best defense since 2007, getting as many sacks as we did with the 2003 defense. We are 2 deep at every position with no dropoff on defense, and very skilled players on offense that need for experience. Our O line is coming around. The only weaknest i see is the qb play which kind of handcuffs us a bit on offense. I think that is also improving. I would rather see Lee with the skilled players we have now, but it aint gonna happen. I hope the kids on the team does not have access to this board. How deflating this is to them.

Pelini took a program that had started to fall and in his 2nd year, got them higher ranked than LSU. Not sure you can say he is unproven.

I must be insane then, because I don't think he wants the headache of coaching in the NFL, much less, Dallas.

There ain't a whole lotta lifestyle change between 5 million a year and 8 million a year either.

I understand that it would be 3 mill more, but what can't you buy with 5 mill?

People need to quit harping on the "Who would want the LSU Job after we fire our most winning coach". Everyone outside of the Pos. LSU fan base can see that Les has the talent and the teams but just makes bonehead decisions with coaching and staff. If I was a coach and saw the talent LSU had, Id be foaming at the mouth for the team. If, (I'm not wishing Miles fails at all, I want us to win) But If he has a piss poor season and gets canned, you can bet your sweet arse it wont be hard to get a top tier coach.

2nd. Saban WILL RETURN TO THE NFL. His ego is to big not to. I know it eats his arse every day that he didn't do much at the Pro level. Some say it was a disaster, some say it was OK, He is critical of himself and Its killing him. Maybe not the Cowgirls, But I do see him back in the NFL soon

You obviously haven't paid attention to Saban's track record.
